Why Would You Buy A WSO?

Hey guys,

I'm curious what plays the most vital part in your decision-making process when deciding whether or not to buy a WSO that has piqued your interest.

I'm asking because I'm assuming it is different for many of us.

I personally tend to mostly buy tools, templates, PLR, etc. (more complimentary things to add to my existing business and/or to make it easier)

When I do buy something based more on information (a "method" or "strategy"), it's not usually the sales copy that gets me to pull the trigger (at least not that I'm aware of. lol). I tend to put a lot of weight in testimonials from people who have purchased the offer before me and the reputation of the person who is selling. If I'm impressed and I think it will help my business, the price doesn't matter that much (but obviously there's limits)

It also usually has to specifically pertain to something I have a need for right now, as opposed to just picking up some new reading material.

Questions:

#1 I can see that many Warriors buy TONS of WSOs, and often on the same topic. Do you grab everything on one topic just to get different opinions and pick out nuggets from each one?

#2 I also see lots of Warriors commenting on WSOs and can tell they REALLY want to buy but are extremely hesitant for some reason. If that's you, is that because of price? Or fear of getting ripped off? What would make that fear go away?

Is it a combination of things, or do some things matter to you more than others?

Price?
Seller Reputation?
Testimonials?

#3 Are there some Warriors that have impressed you so much that you just buy every WSO they release without even blinking an eye?

#4 There's about 400 WSOs on backlinks and SEO methods. lol. If you had to choose one, how would you personally make the choice?

Cheers
Jay

I guess that I am somewhat like you - I tend to buy things that I need such as software and content. Sometimes, though, an ad will REALLY draw me in and I will purchase a WSO just to satisfy my curiosity. I try not to make a habit of this, though...

    1) Certain topics do interest me more than others. I think it is important to continue to stay active in the online world, and some WSO's contain good stuff I would not have thought of on my own. If it looks like something that could help my business, I take a serious look.

    2) Its unfortunate that people can be so weary and hesitant to buy, especially when the WSO is cheap. The internet has made us untrusting, what can I say!

    3) yes, there are definitely a few people on here that put out some fantastic stuff, and I look forward to their new releases

Generally, when I'm buying a lot on one topic, it's because I need to know more about something for either a new arm of my business, or a product of my own which touches on the subject.

#2 I also see lots of Warriors commenting on WSOs and can tell they REALLY want to buy but are extremely hesitant for some reason. If that's you, is that because of price? Or fear of getting ripped off? What would make that fear go away?
Usually, if I'm hesitating, it's because I see several similar products (not always WSOs) and haven't decided which one to buy yet. If I choose another one, I feel weird about coming back and saying I'm not buying this one, or even worse that I bought something else.

#3 Are there some Warriors that have impressed you so much that you just buy every WSO they release without even blinking an eye?
There are several Warriors who have impressed me enough that if I want a product on subject X, and they're selling one, that's all I need to know. But it has to be in their area of expertise. For example, Gene Pimentel is the end-all expert on domain name flipping, but if he wrote a product about (say) how to write your own press releases? I'd need some serious convincing that he's the kind of guy to be teaching that.

#4 There's about 400 WSOs on backlinks and SEO methods. lol. If you had to choose one, how would you personally make the choice?
I'd choose the one in my sig, if there was one. And oh, look, there is.

Seriously, take a look back at #2. How do you choose from among fifty WSOs from fifty Warriors, all of whom are properly credentialed? It's not an easy decision.

Which is where we come to "how to make decisions."

If you cannot decide, you need more information. Discard all the options you KNOW you won't choose, and get more information about the rest.

If more information is too hard to get, takes too long to get, or is actually impossible to get - you have enough information.

If you still cannot decide, all the things you MIGHT choose are equally good and you can pick one arbitratrily.

Pair this process up with Robert Plank's admonition to take no more than five minutes when making a decision, and you'll make decisions pretty painlessly and without regret.

I would buy a WSO 1. if it could answer some questions in my head, 2. If I could benefit from it and 3. Out of curiosity.

    Hi,

I buy WSO's that are mostly related to my business.

I've mainly bought WSO's related to writing, where
to sell my work, and how to write better.

    Though I've also bought WSO's about CPA's
, complete niche packages, and software tools.

One of my biggest considerations when buying WSO's is the price.
If there's a really good one at less than $10 I usually don't think
    that much.

However, I've also purchased WSO's more than $30, in which case
I read and re-read the entire copy and testimonials before I buy.

Sometimes the decision process takes days and several visits to
    the WSO thread.

However, reading the sales copies and testimonials is not an assurance
that the WSO is good. There's always some risk in buying.

So basically here's how it is for me:

    1. See if the product is related to my business
    2. Check out the price
    3. Check out the copy
    4. Check out the testimonials
    5. Check out the Warrior's reputation

    All the best,

    Omar

@CDarklock, (I'm seriously considering contradicting myself above and picking up your wso after just reading your free pdf, based solely on curiousity )

That was interesting, humorous, and informative, my friend. Are you a writer?

    Thanks for the great answers.

    @Omar

One of my biggest considerations when buying WSO's is the price.
If there's a really good one at less than $10 I usually don't think
    that much.
Yeah, when it's less than 10 bucks, it's like "would I buy this person a coffee and a muffin at Starbucks to give me a few good tips?". However, it could be counterproductive if you get caught up in buying too many 10 dollar WSOs just 'cause it's cheap.

If you boiled the whole WSO down to one sentence, it would be:

Stop worrying about Google's algorithm and make a site people want to visit.

All the rest is commentary. It's good and useful commentary, but that's the core, and you could probably figure out the rest if you spent a week or two thinking about it.

Which leads to what I think of as a "quality" WSO. What I want from a WSO is:

      - One single, central idea of high quality.
      - An explanation of what ideas led to it.
      - An explanation of the ideas that come out of it.
      - Some practical guidance for applying those ideas.

This is primarily because I'm always trying new stuff, instead of looking for the magic system I can blindly repeat over and over until I make enough money. I want the ingredients of a system I'll build myself, not a predefined system from someone else.

If I ever found a system that could be blindly repeated by anyone to make money, the entire concept would bore me, and I'd just turn around and sell it so I could finance my research into the next system.

      Are you a writer?
      Is that a rhetorical question?

Great posts I personally have not bought any WSO offers. But I am seriously considering checking it out more. I hear great things that it is a great way to build up a targeted, responsive E-mail list very quickly. This will be my next step, a very worthwhile investment.

  • I have to say that I have bought some very valuable WSO products here. I base my buys on needs and also if the WSO can meet that need.

So far, I have been happy with the quality of the WSO's that I have purchased.

Price does play a role, but I think that one can undervalue an otherwise quite valuable product.

Awesome question! I typically purchase a WSO if I feel that I will get a good return on my investment. I really love PLR products because you can rebrand them and quickly create new products out of them. Generally I look for high quality PLR on here. I have spent as high as $497 on a PLR package here, and yes I did get a return on my investment from that!

Another set of things I buy are mini courses that teach a simple profit strategy or something that looks like it has a unique angle to it. This means an offer that looks like it teaches something I know a lot about, but seems to offer one element that I may not have known about before.

For example I have purchased offers knowing that I knew almost every part of the system, but that one little piece of new information turned out to be gold for me. The investment made sense for me.

Being pretty new here and not really knowing much about the folks on here yet, I've relied on testimonials for the couple of WSOs that I've purchased. If someone else says it's good, it always seems to have a little more weight than if the seller says it's good.

Interesting question, and for me, there answer isn't any one thing. I buy PLR because I can quickly turn a profit. I buy things in areas I where want to improve my knowledge. I buy things where I have a great deal of knowledge to see if there might be one thing more I can discover. Of course, sometimes the price is so good it's just a no brainer.

I've even bought a couple WSO's just to see if the person offering it really knew what they were talking about!

Mostly I buy services. I always want to build my team bigger and speed things up. Testimonials in the WSO thread are very important to me. I see if the service is delivered on time, if people are happy, if the service provider is answering all customer questions.

Buying a product WSO, I want something with a new angle. And again I read the comments from buyers in the thread. I also check previous posts of the WSO seller, and his previous threads.

When I want to move into a new area that I don't know much about, then I look for something comprehensive. For example, Don & Jeremy's Bootcamps.

Also, I will buy if it's something "on the edge". I like experimenting with the hope that taking a chance will give me a brainstorm I can use in some part of my business. For example, I recently bought an Xrumer blast for one of my minor sites. Just to see the process and widen my knowledge.

I buy tools mostly too. I buy infoproducts for myself much less, but sometimes buy them as well when a client asks if I can recommend something - I wouldn't do it without reading it first. Very rarely I will feel like chilling out and watching a video, and since most blockbuster movies etc send me to sleep I will look to see if there's anything in the WSOs that looks remotely interesting. I realise I'm probably odd like this though after finding myself to be the only person on the beach who'd brought my motherboard manual along for holiday reading. Bring on 'Secrets Of Mass Organic Web Traffic - The Gripping Sequel!'

In answer to question one, I don't religiously hoover up anything on a given topic. As I said, I'm more of a tools person than an infoproduct person, and once you've found the right tool you are unlikely to want another one that does just the same thing.

I'm not often hesitant about buying anything that I know I can use. What stops me is when a seller is vague about how their product works and I know for certain of a dodgy method it could be using. Usually I can understand the secrecy and it's easy enough to ask on the thread and get an answer that eliminates the possibility of the dodgy method being used without the seller having to give away any detail if s/he doesn't want to, and often someone else has already asked anyway. Same again if something looks very similar to something I've already bought.

I wouldn't buy anyone's WSOs just because I'd found their previous offerings impressive, but if I was looking for something specific I needed or someone came up with a product that could obviously fill a gap in my knowledge or add to it then there are a few people who have already proven to me that they can come up with the goods and deliver what's promised (and a bit more besides). Kevin Riley and Jack Duncan spring to mind.

As for choosing between all those backlink products, I'd probably either use something similar to CDarklock's method and make a quick decision (most likely) or would abandon the idea of watching 'Google SideWiki - A Disaster Movie!' in favour of an evening with a few cans of beer spent in girly-geeky bliss going through all of them

I tend to buy things that are more suited to a particular business model that I am trying to implement. Some have worked some have not. But the info I have gotten in the WSO's was top notch most of the time. Even if I know some of the info in the WSO I still buy it because you never know when you will get that one piece of info that will explode your business.

I can go months without visiting the WSO section of the forum, so most of the time I find things that might interest me via peoples' sig lines.

I have definite things I'm on the lookout for, and if someone impresses me with a post and they seem to offer one of the things on my list, I check it out.

I've passed the point where I buy stuff just to buy something - for business, anyway. (Drop me at Bass Pro or Cabelas and all bets are off, though... )

Certain Warriors I'll buy from without hesitation. Others, I need more. Not only will I check out the person offering the WSO, I'll check out the people posting reviews and testimonials.

As far as choosing between multiple offers, CDarklock offered an important tip. Often the best way to find what you do want is to start shaving away what you don't want.

I'm sort of like you. I buy tools that help me automate my business or PLR for my products or templates, etc.

I recently bought a WSO based purely on the persons' reputation here. I was really disappointed to find that it was so basic ... no real substance and had a copyright date of 2006. So I won't be buying based on reputation alone, although I won't buy without reputation.

I also like services type of WSOs that do something I'm too lazy to do myself, like backlinking. I chose one service (RichJerksNet) because he is so highly visible and there are a million people who use his service and great real testimonials. The thread is now pages and pages and he has repeat customers, me being one. I've ignored all the other backlinking services because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I feel that when a WSO is very successful, a million copycats crawl out of the woodwork.

Also, when there's just a normal thread and someone indicates that a WSO has solved their problem and I have the same problem, I'll check it out.

I used to buy WSO's looking for that magic method that would make £50 pound notes fall off of trees....boy was that a mistake!

But now I buy WSO's looking for a certain subject. Although I don't follow the entire method, I take out pieces of information and apply it where I can in what I am currently doing. For me this is the best way as it helps build on what I am currently doing, rather than getting distracted by an entirely new method.

I have bought a few WSO's in my short time here. My first criteria is how much do I think it will help me in attaining my goals- in other words relevance. The next criteria is price, as my funds are currently quite limited. The last criteria I use is how believable is the sales page/letter. This would include proof of what they are claiming and testimonials to back up there claims. I have not been here long enough to know people's reputation or that may come into consideration as well.

I think most of the information has been covered here so I'll add one of the reasons why sometimes I hesitate on buying. There is one thing I really don't like to do and that is request a refund.

When I buy a WSO I'm trying to add to what I already know or like many others, I'm looking for tools to automate or shorten my time spent working online.

What I have found is that sometimes the offer sounds like I can use it, but then after I buy it I realize it is really more for the newbie. I really feel bad when I have to request a refund.

Yet, the few times I have had to request a refund I have never had any problems with receiving it.

I'm part of that group that can be quite hesitant when buying things...only because I've set my standards so high and limited funding plays a role as well.

Let me say this diplomatically. You can find many $7 WSO that are hardly worth those $7...

Price isn't that improtant to me. Seller reputation is very important to me.
Testimonials: I generally ignore them unless they are by someone I respect and trust.
I also look to see what's going on in the thread and how the seller is conducting himself, how he reacts to criticizm etc.

    No.

#4 There's about 400 WSOs on backlinks and SEO methods. lol. If you had to choose one, how would you personally make the choice?
Check out their blogs and see what kind of info they offer for free. If it's a WSO from someone who doesn't have a platform on which he/she is regularly producing content on the same topic the WSO covers, that's a bit of a red flag for me.

Also: "Explode Your twitter Followers" -> Check how many followers OP has.
"Ultimate SEO guide" -> Check OPs website with SEO Quake and see if the pages are ranking for some of the keywords they seem to be targeting.
