What's Wrong With My Funnel?

Hello everybody,

I've been keeping a low profile for some time now, but I've finally decided to officially sign up and become a member of this forum - what an amazing place it is!

I've been marketing some stuff here and there for about six months now, jumping from business model to business model, from market to market - I've decided to stick to a specific male "fitness" market.

At this moment in time I've got a squeeze page up and running and the conversion rate is 33.43%.

Once the visitor signs up for the free course he keeps getting emails from me which direct him to go to a "secret" page on my website which has good, high quality content and two or three banners. The subscriber keeps getting autoresponder messages for five days in a row.

I don't know what the hell am I doing wrong, but when I was testing out this market I've built a tiny list of less than 100 dudes and I've made two sales of an expensive info product using this method, but now after two months my list has almost 400 subscribers and I've made zero sales.

I know that the numbers are tiny, but could please someone give me some ideas on how could I improve my marketing funnel.

Well, if the only way that you're promoting your affiliate product is through banners on a "secret" page, I'd say that you're doing pretty well actually.. haha.

Try emailing your list with a special offer. Email them and say that for the next 20 people that buy XXX product, you'll give them a bonus gift of YYY if they just email you their receipt number.

Obviously you're going to have to create the bonus first...

Either that or just try more of a direct sales approach.

Relying on just banners isn't going to do a whole lot of good. I like banner adds for driving traffic to the squeeze page, but no so much for advertising stuff I'm trying to make an sale from.

Like the above post said, try a more direct sales approach after you've given some good quality information in a couple previous emails. Put the link right in front of their face in the email and tell them to click on it. You'd be surprised how people will click on it when you tell them to.

I like this.....adding bonuses ontop of their purchase from your affiliate link is the numero uno method of generating affiliate sales.

However, I would not limit this to xxx number of customers. Then you gotta create new bonuses all the time to keep the sales flowing. That would be way too much work.

It's how you position your offer. If you say that your offer is only available for the next X people, logically speaking, there's always going to be another X people in line.

On the other hand, if you say that you're only selling limited copies for X people, different story.

Also, how can you expect people to buy a high ticket item from someone that they don't even know? People like buying from people they like, know and trust, period.

Your lead magnet is too long, people's attention spans are like goldfish when on the Internet.

You want to give them INSTANT gratification for subscribing to your list so they can make that buying decision NOW rather then wait to receive ALL your content over the next 5 days to see if you're worth the money or not.

You're simply delaying your own sales process by having prospects wait to receive whatever content it is you have promised them over an extended period of time.

When your prospect signs up for a X day eCourse, they think to themselves that they'll get around to it later because they have to wait X days to receive ALL the content.

And "later" leads to "never" in marketing, period.

I agree with the post above that says make an offer to them. Generally speaking, the more offers you make, the more money you make in this biz. Also, why not survey your list and see why they didnt buy? See what they want... And give it to them.

The idea of the funnel is to start small (low dollars) them work your prospects through the funnel by providing good quality while developing a good rapport......

    increasing the products and prices.....

Even if they all buy at top dollar ...what next?

    consider more products...related of course....

I'll agree with everyone above, but I think you need to answer a couple other really critical questions.

How many of those emails are being opened? How many people are actually coming to the "secret page"?

If you are getting traffic to the secret page, then it is your conversion style, and you need to rework that page to convert.

If they are not coming to the page, the problem is in your email content, and you are not inspiring them to come to the page, or possibly to even open the email.

Plus, with a list, you need more offers. What is the HOT item of the week in your market? Are you keeping up on the hottest news and creating an interesting relationship with your list, to increase the percentage of opened emails?

I know I'm on many lists, a big percentage I glance at the subject and delete. Then there are those people who send me great information on a regular basis. I open EVERY ONE of their emails. (Travis Sago comes to mind..damn it..quit wasting my time Travis, I need to work.)

WOW guys, thanks for your ideas - especially Chris Pambos and mr2monster.

I've realized yesterday that I am not trying hard enough to sell. I've got these banners up, but to be honest I don't give any specific directions to the visitor to go to another website and get the product.

I've compiled the content and now everything is in one 14 page PDF file. Now my plan is to record four or five videos, where I'll introduce them to more advanced info and give specific directions on where to go to get the product that will solve their problems. (Something like Kern's results in advance technique)

After New Year I'll broadcast an offer to my list with a limited bonus - Kunaki DVD possibly.

    That's the master plan
