Do you allow advertisers on your site?

I have heard allowing companies to advertise on your site can be quite lucrative.

Equally I guess there is a chance people could click off my site and go to one of the advertisers sites.

Is it a good idea to allow advertising and what kind of monthly rate should one look at charging?

Thanks

advertising is the heart and soul of the internet, so yes of course.

with that said, it really depends on what kind of site, if its an informational site, then yes, and costs directly depends on your traffic and types of visitor.

We control a few blogs that are perfect for advertising in this way...

We rent out the space available on a monthly basis to various advertisers, that are carefully selected to ensure they fit in with the overall theme/content.

    A few things to consider:

You don't want to irritate your readership/traffic with loud and annoying ads that don't suit their taste

    and also

It has taken us quite a while to build up a steady stream of advertisers to ensure we always have income from the slots. Most of our readers/traffic are not interested in advertising, so it always pays to put your own ads and info out to other content publishers to get them interested in renting space on your site.

    Peace
