Help Please - Seriously, Anyone Having Success With "Other" Article Directory

I submitted about 20 articles to EZA the other day and 8 were declined with "grammar" issue. I downloaded WhiteSmoke and found that there were all minor errors like a comma after a word etc. (I get an 8 over 10 score with WhiteSmoke which is Good).

Okay, amended with the software and resubmitted those articles. 4 approved and 4 declined again and be downgraded to "Basic Plus" from my Platinum status automatically  Ouch!!!

Not too sure what was the matter but this new niche that I am targeting seem to have a very strict editor.

I submitted the same articles to articlebase without any issue but my Google Analytics show that 80% of the traffic came from EZA. In fact, through experience, no other article directory can give the same traffic score (I used ArticleBot) and the traffic from all these other directories cannot even make up to 3% of the total traffic!

1) It's tiring dealing with EZA. Is there any other article directory or Web 2.0 sites that perform just as good as EZA that you have personally tried? What surprised me was that, direct traffic from EZA itself can result in sales that no other directories can.

2) Am I not using the article submitter the correct way? I mean, <3% of traffic is time wasting isn't it?

3) Is there any grammar software better than WhiteSmoke? No, I cannot afford to have all articles to be proof read.

I am currently doing the conventional article marketing with a review page and articles to EZA. In fact, I have been relying on EZA heavily all the while but I am getting tired... HELP!!!

What can I do? I mean, what is the best way to overcome this please?

Thanks!

  • Ezine Articles has to appease the google gods as that is where their money comes from. So they can do whatever they want until people get tired of dealing with them.

EZA has been around for a LONG time and people have built tons of links to it, so it's a rare example of a real high authority site that you can submit content to in a format that will actually help you sell.

    Ezine is strict but good.

I have not found other places that drive traffic as well as them. Some people here claim they have, but I have not found this at all.

If all else fails you can build backlinks to your articles and get them to rank high for your keyword.

EZA is the only article directory that gives you almost instant traffic and then good ranking in the SE's. All of the other ones provide a small amount of traffic, but in my opinion, EZA is the best.

Ezine are generally regarded as being the best and I would stick with them but if you want other directories, here's some that I use:

    Goarticles
    Article Dashboard
    Idea Marketers
    Articlesphere
    Amazines
    The Free Library
    Zimbio
    Article Alley

    Also consider Squidoo & Hubpages.

    Hope this helps

The question is ... does the traffic from EZA convert for you or is a lot of it coming from other marketers doing so called "research"

Is your traffic clicking through to your site or is it getting snipped by adsense?

Warriors Allen Graves and James Stein both have great directories . They will be picky about the content also because they don't want their sites junked up.

Honestly if you have no off page SEO going on ... their sites will not appear to bring as much traffic a EZA.

Take into consideration most bookmarking site will not bookmark EZA and consider them a spam source . Both of these warrior's directory passes the mustard at at least 32 bookmarking sites . I know this from experience .

The traffic they get does convert and there is no competing adsense to steal your clicks .

Traffic is nice .. traffic that converts to buyers or list members is what pays the bills .

Well Troy, I seldom use my article submitter after seeing the bad performance other directories did for me. In fact, I have been submitting to EZA alone for quite some time and yes, they did bring me consistent traffic and sales.

I am not too sure if those Adsense on EZA carried away a lot of traffic but from the CTR and conversion, it seems ok to me.

But I really don't know what's wrong with my articles. They pass Whitesmoke, Ginger and the spell checker on Words but not EZA.

You are completely missing the point of linking

If they are working so good for you ... what was the point of your op ?

Doesn't matter if they pass a check list of 100 different variables . If you want them on EZA.. you have to pass their editorial guidelines .

Aren't you glad they are the same for everyone

What is the best directory to use ... little hint ... check out the articles on the front page of google .

If article base owns three spots .. which directory would seem to be the one that you would use and to send your back links to .

Now if the directory that is ranking for the term isn't bookmark friendly .... would it be smart to use one that is as a buffer ?

Ezine articles has been good to me over the last couple months and drives a lot of traffic to my sites. I'm up to 214 articles in about 4 months and in the last 2 months started experimenting with some other sites. On some of the others I'm able to push the articles up the rankings after a couple weeks getting them onto Google page 1 and in some high ranking spots.

Many of my ezines are now PR3,PR2,and PR1 now so they are giving me some decent backlinks too aside from the traffic. EZA is strict though, every week I make a mistake in an article and they let me know about it right away. I like the strictness though because it keeps a lot of the less serious competition out of the game and allows me to rank higher on my articles so I welcome their standards.

Yes, ArticlesBase is one that I discovered with a little work I can get on page one outranking Ezines. The links on ArticlesBase are nofollow but for traffic generation it is working for me. They allow 3 links in the body so by putting 1 link above the fold I try to maximize getting a clickthrough. Then I add a link to the middle, and the end, and then a couple in the resource box. What I don't like about ArticlesBase though is they pepper my article with their own hyperlinks for ads. But aside from that I have been able to just build some backlinks to some of my ArticlesBase and get them ranking high fast.

The other thing about ArticlesBase is you have a little more control on the onsite SEO if you do it correctly you will get it super optimized on site with Title, Description, and H1 tag. They are also listed in the DMOZ so that gives it another point on site. So when it gets competitive on a keyword that I am trying to rank for because some other people have some good onsite I use an ArticlesBase and a HubPage - then I build some backlinks and watch my articles pass them within 3 to 4 weeks. It's actually quite fun doing this where I have some articles on various directories and I am sitting in 10 of the positions in the top 20 knocking out a lot of my competition. GoArticles has worked well for getting good views but I haven't had as many clickthroughs. good traffic views to the article but lower clickthroughs. Advantage there is you can put links in the article and I'm going to start implementing that now as well by adding a link above the fold.

Read my review I wrote in my signature showing a way to build some backlinks to those articles to push them up quick.
