Has my blog been hacked?

Yesterday I posted an article to my blog. Today I go there to add another one and it's gone. Not in drafts, not anywhere!

Luckily. I posted a link to it on facebook yesterday and clicked on it. It's definitely not there except for a cached copy.

Does anyone know what could have happened? Have I been hacked?

Ironic that I just posted a question about a Wordpress back up plugin. Or am I just paranoid?

I'd appreciate any help or insight into what this might be. Thanks to all warriors!

I'd talk to your host and see if they restored anything from backup. Call up customer service or goto a "status" page. Occasionally that type of thing can happen.

Otherwise, do you have any stats software? Can you see if, between the time you posted and it disappeared, anyone had logged into the administrative side of your site? It should be easy to tell regular site visitors from someone logging into the admin side.

I personally run my own VPS and I do nightly snapshots of all my domains and databases. Don't ever rely on your web host or anyone else to take care of your business sites for you.

Thanks. Yes, I realize that now. I've installed a WP back up plug in that does daily backups and I've also put in a request with the security dept of my host.

Is there a possibility that this could have happened while the nameservers were changed on this site? They were changed yesterday. That's the only thing I can think of that might have caused this to happen, other than a deliberate hack.

      Thanks again,

      Eunice

If you want to check if blog is hacked then check your wp installation folder for suspicious files and folder. Folers like "8xcsfsdf" or some weird names are hackers installed folders. If they are not there then no need to worry. Also do upgrade wordpress installation and change your password often (or choose the long password).

For lost post, you can check with your host for that post to retrieve from data backup. If i'm not wrong there should be entry for wordpress post in Mysql db.
