Default How Do You Automate YouTube Videos into Blog Posts

I noticed in my youtube "account" area on the left nav there's a button that says "Blog Setup." So, I went through the setup process to link my videos to an existing blog that I have thinking that youtube would now just create a new blog post in my blog automatically, featuring any new video I upload.

Is that not how it works? Or is there an extra step to create the post with the video in it?

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking embedding a YouTube video into your existing blog?

If you are simple. Go to the video page.

There is a blue box next to the video. Click your mouse on the embed field. It will highlight it Press ctrl+c then paste it into your blog post and hit ctrl+v and it will paste the code into the post.

Of course it also depends on what blogging software you use or if you have plug-ins that do it.

Nope, I can put video in my blog posts no problem. This seems to be a different thing.

From within the youtube account, when I go through their tool to "Add Blog" (meaning, it looks like I can connect my youtube account to many blogs if i want to), the screen prompts me to add:

1. blog service (which i chose self-hosted wordpress)
2. my blog's username and password so youtube can login to it and post whatever video I add to youtube (at least that's what I think should happen)
3. an api URL that youtube provides
4. and my api key that I started a wordpress.com account to get

Then it saved my settings as one of the blogs in my network.

So, when I added a video to youtube, I thought it would just automatically appear as a blog post...or at least give me some kind of prompt after uploading the video saying something like, "Would you like to use this video in a blog post on xyz blog?"

I have never seen that. Sounds interesting. I just use a word press plug in or do the copy and paste thing.

I am sure someone will know.

Yeah, it seems like nobody in my network knows either, which is surprising because they're ahead of me in video knowledge. The connection also is supposed to allow you to take a video from your mobile -> upload to youtube -> hit your blog as a post in one swoop.

If it's not very popular now, it will be if it ever works right.

Okay, I see what you are talking about now. I have just never tried it. Video is not essential for my target market.

Plus I have video posted that I do not want to go to my blogs. Me going down a zip line is not important to my business sites.

Someone will try it.

Had one of my programmers dig into it and he said it could be done but would require quite a bit of coding integration. So, not sure what Google was thinking when they added that if they didn't take it the rest of the way. So, if anyone else comes across this post wondering....you cannot simply add your blog to youtube and get auto-blog posts from adding your video as of 01/01/10. Maybe someday.

Hey, thanks for the follow up. I set up another blog and tried to do it.

I was actually going to bump this thread.

After my wiz kid is done with his database and a few other projects, I will have him look at it.

If your guy says it can be done I want my guy to at least look at it.

It is probably not worth the trouble, but the kid always amazes me with what he can do.

If your blog is hosted on Blogspot then you just need to on the youtube widget there. You will enter your youtube account details there in blog widget and videos will be automatically inserted into your blog.
If blog is hosted on some other site, just use the video html coding and place in between of your post.

Maybe they made that feature to "automatically" integrate only with blogger/blogspot since google owns them. Then you get all the way in trying to get what you expect to happen with your hosted wordpress setup only to find, shucks, it ONLY works with blogger/blogspot. Wouldn't put it past 'em.

If it is through blogger/blogspot it may be easier than I thought.

It will be a month or so before the wiz kid can look at it.

If what you are saying is correct. I now know what I want him to look at.

When he does look at it he he will have a solution to me in 48 hours.

If we learn anything I will bump this or PM you.
