Can You Sell With Twitter? Yes! Here's Proof :)

This is my WordPress/Wishlist based membership site that has only been promoted via Twitter. I also did a WSO (see my signature) but those members go into a different group than Customers (called Warriors surprisingly) so these 137 sales are from Twitter alone.

Only one JV out of the 21 has promoted and he did that via Twitter too

This is from Google Analytics, it is getting 7.25% conversion rate. Not bad considering this was over the holidays.

I am going to start a split test to improve that, right now the sales page is anything but optimized

Common wisdom is that you can't sell on Twitter and that it is all just chit chat. Just shows that instead of taking people at their word you should test stuff for yourself.

Wow, not bad! I'm pretty impressed =) So far I've just been using it to build my list and for traffic, I haven't really used it for offers like you have.

    Congratz on the sales!

Secret may be in how the Twitter list was built?
over how much time and from what sources, buttons on sigs in forums and on page
follow/unfollow, or people that from find you via follow/unfollow I doubt?

My Twitter following has been built one follower at a time for quite a while. Right at the start I dismissed it, then I came back once I saw the value in it. I tried incentivising followers in a competition, even had auto response and auto follow for a period, but for months I have only followed really interesting people or people who interact with me in conversation.

The benefit of building your following this way is that it is all about giving and getting value, rather than seeing people as numbers.

I don't send offer after offer either, this would just burn your followers.

Kind of a "build your well before you are thirsty" kind of thing

  • I get a good clickthrough rate to articles and videos from twitter at the moment. Well worth spending some time to test different methods there.

I thought twitterville is dead (socially). I get more and better response on facebook btw. Twitter is too crowded with bots nowadays and some folks I usually talk to were all gone. Anyway thanks for sharing.

I have friends who made ridiculously amount of money by having gazillion of twitter account. Oh Yes, I hate them. They are destroying my lovely twitter ville community. Sad and cant really be avoided.

Thanks for posting this. Most interesting.

Would you say that it was worth getting to know how Twitter worked before you set all this up?

      Thanks!

It's true, we've been coming at Twitter differently across the last couple of months and have seen some promising results from using it alone, without even a website behind the account. I'm not sure off the top of my head but I think we're selling about 30 commissionable products a month or thereabouts, with very little time spent.

Here's some of the points that are working for us:
    • Changed the twitter name to an actual first name, last name. (Used a website name before)
      .
    • Stopped doing any auto following or group following. Changed completely to handpicking people one at a time. We now make more money from a follower group about 100 times smaller than our last run at Twitter.
      .
    • Stopped following back anyone who is marketing too hard on their own account, and never anyone who is auto tweeting, especially those 'inspirational' quotes people auto tweet all day. We've found these are usually people who are not listening, and are not good prospects.
(Hint: do not auto tweet or use those inspirational quote tweeters.)
      .
    • Have TweetDeck open all day, and then whenever we come across something interesting during the day, Tweet it. This keeps people interested in what you are saying.
      .
    • TweetDeck automatically shortens URLs, so people are used to seeing them from all your Tweets of cool things throughout the day. When you tweet an affiliate link, you just do it through TweetDeck, and the shortened URL looks just like any of your other Tweets.

The main thing with Twitter is that you need to set a standard for what people expect from your tweets. If people expect you to link to trash or to always link to promos, you're wasting your time. If they expect that any link you give them is going to take them to something cool, then your golden when it comes to promoting things.

      Hello

I agree Twitter is a great place to connect with people but i totally disagree that you have to interact with people on a personal level to make any sales.

I have been using twitter for 2 years now and make at least 10-30 sales a week on average.

I have around 70 twitter accounts all based around different niches all on automation.

Like i have stated in a previous post.

Its all on how you set your automation up. Links to your followers all day long will not work but if you can automate your links why cant you automate yourself personally.

Its not about who you know on twitter or how well you get to know these followers but its the number of people that watch your tweets and retweet you.

It also helps to have at least 10 twitter accounts focused on every niche you promote.

I was using Twitter the other day to rake in about $60 in like 2 minutes or so. (those people aren't even my followers lol)

If you know what to do and how to do, anything can be monetized!
