Does anyone else HATE squeeze pages with videos that don't have the basic controllers on the video player - like play, pause, and especially progress?
Maybe it's just me b/c a lot of good marketers use it, but i mean seriously...I was watching a video the other day out of curiosity of what was being promoted, watched about 10 mins (actually listened, while doing other work), my internet connection hiccuped or something and the video stopped in mid-sentence.
There was NO way to continue to play the video without refreshing the page and starting all over. I thought, I wonder how many people simply don't stick around because of this "forced watch" of the video prior to being presented with ANY way to opt-in, click through, etc.
Am I the only one who doesn't get it?
While I can see claims of higher conversions from the post-video visitors, I can only wonder how many people are being lost in the shuffle because they don't have the time or interest to sit through a freakin' 15-30 min video (withOUT even knowing how long the video is going to be!) before they can raise their hand and express interest in the offering.
When studying marketing research, it was suggested to always include a progress indication on [online] survey's so takers knew how close they were to finishing, to minimize abandonment.
Someone more "in the know" please explain it to me.
