Hi all, good to be here seeing another decade and hoping we make the best out of it especially the year 2010.

I have seen some comments on plans for 2010

What I want to know is what kind of mistakes did we make in 2009 and how do we correct them for the new year, any regrets etc

Mine was not taking properly lessons in the IM before dabbling into CPA in particular, now am a better IM person

mine was jumping at pretty much every product that was released with getting to know more about the product and reviews first.
second, would be not surrounding myself with enough mentors.

Well from the look of things you will have to change strategy by implementing those things you have learn t last year

I think one of our mistakes was not marketing offline. Been so occupied marketing online, never even accrued to do some marketing campaigns offline.

Marketing offline has been one of my greatest help in accruing income, but one advice i will give you is don't advertise or market in the wrong place, for instance marketing a twitter campaign product in a wedding magazine may be your waterloo.

      I do.

In January 2009, my lack of focus did not yield desired results. But this year, I've chosen a strategy to implement and intend to hang in until I'm successful. My other goal is to stop procrastinating. I'm thinking that I may actually be afraid of success.

      I know better now.

My biggest mistake was not following through when learning something new, letting myself get distracted. Cost me time and money.

The moral of the story is whatever you are trying to learn you need to go "all in" and learn it, master it. You don't need to get it to 100% mastery, but enough that you can draw insights on your own experiences rather than relying on what others are telling you.

In 2009, I largely corrected the mistake I had made in previous years in trying to juggle too many projects at once.

I worked on a single project in the beginning of the year. Then, I did get off-track for about a month, while I awaited feedback, which I never got.

Then, I spent the next few months revising and expanding that single project.

After finishing it, I was distracted for a bit as I had to determine what to do next.

Then, I started and finished an eBook project.

Neither of the projects has sold as well as I hoped, but I did get some valuable feedback so I can revise them and hopefully do better with them.

In the meantime, I am first finishing off another project I decided to tackle. And I am going to finish this one up before jumping to the revisions on the other project.

One project at a time. That's important, I think. That way, you actually finish things instead of juggling dozens of unfinished projects.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Well! The biggest mistake I had been dong all these years is not to develop a system of doing work.

I had been doing what I felt like.

There are two kinds of works that you do. One are daily chores that you do like writing a blogpost, making 5 forum posts, commenting on fellow blogs etc.

These are core jobs that you should do everyday.

Other kinds of works are which you plan to introduce to your present system kind of expansion of your system. Like adding Adwords or using paid advertising or releasing a new book.

These need to be planned and iinculcated into your system smartly.

Till now I have been doing things by jumping from one to another. Not a good approach.

I am changing that this year.

The key is not doing everything sporadically but doing few things effectively and then go to inculcate more.

I don't make mistakes, I create learning opportunities.

The order of business for me in 2010 is to focus, focus, focus and take smaller steps, but more of them. That will keep me busy at least until October. LOL

Being a newbie, my biggest mistake was trying to absorb too much in different learning resources in different ways of IM. Then try to implement a campaign without perfecting before moving on to the next thing. For example, I spent all of this time learning PPC. Started a couple of campaigns, made a little income but at a small loss. Instead of focusing on that one method and making it better, I trudge off to learn all about SEO and onpage and off page strategies. Don't even think about PPC anymore. Start up a webpage using SEO techniques and not perfecting it......And so on.....You get the message.

I have learned to stick to one topic. Get the method put into place and work my butt off to get it to work. Then, after some success, I can learn about another, more difficult method of IM. I need patience and a good dose of it too!...LOL

Agreed, just started outsourcing some tasks and I can easily see how this will be profitable to my business especially since I just don't have enough time to do it all.

In 2009 I spent too much time learning stuff and not enough taking action and marketing.
Also I was not focused enough and spent too much time testing stuff that was not getting good enough results.

So I this year I will take more action and plan more and focus alot more!

My biggest mistake I made in 2009 was that I didn't take one freakin vacation( A real one to like Puerto Rico). I love IM so much that to me learning more ways to make money and fine tune my bizz is a vacation in itself. --But remember everyone-even if your work, hobby is IM--Take 2 weeks to a place of nirvana

    I just booked my tickets..I can't wait

    I agree with Dan's post.

The biggest mistake I made was being unfocused. I tried spreading myself too thin over a variety of projects and found myself getting exhausted and making less money.

In December I decided to focus my efforts on just one project and put in consistent work on it. Not only was I able to free up more of my time, I started to make more money - go figure.

The lesson for me was to stop trying to do too much and focus on one project at a time. I am also starting to outsource some of the mundane tasks and hope that I can free up even more time.
