How long did it took you...?

I am just curious. I have recently jumped into the internet-marketing van wagon. And I was wondering...how long did it took you guys to live the "dot com lifestyle" ? You know...been debt free, having enough money to do anything you want...and pretty much just be able to work from home and have a happy life .

Cheers!

    Not there yet.

    Still about $80k in debt.

Often counting change to buy food.

    Sometimes living in a car.

And "happy" isn't really the word I'd use.

But it beats punching a clock.

Well I'm not $80k in debt... but I know what its like to scrape on by. I'm only 19 and I've had one real job and I hated it. I was 17 then so for the past 2 years my income has come from internet based business. I live comfortably and thats how I like it. Sometimes I barely scrape by and other times there is plenty of cash.

Welcome to the internet-marketing van wagon, it's a journey that's for sure.

Well, I am not in debt but have just left my 'punching a clock' job and just now looking forward to working for myself and helping others find their way on-line too.

My success did not come from selling virtual products. At first I was a small import/export trader. I sold everything from gemstones and jewelry to funky carvings and then moved into specialized electronics.

I migrated my business from trade shows to the Internet about 5 or 6 years ago. Sold it a few years ago.

I only moved into virtual products about 3 years ago. I got into it becase I am a information junkie. Information is fun!

I had a very good foundation to build upon. So basically it took about 10 years for me to be an overnight success.

I think a better question would be: How long would it take a motivated person who is willing to learn the steps necessary to succeed in a IM business?

My answer would be if you learn the steps and follow through with them...A person of average intelligence could make a living in IM in a year or 2. But who is counting?

Most people will get discouraged and quit after a few product mistakes and blunders.

Don't you be one of them

    It is up to you.

    Wish you the best.

Ha, so true. My first website launched in 1995 as a member-based site and I remember spending 45 minutes on the phone selling a prospect on a one-year membership for $85. I hung up the phone and got a call from a guy wanting to pay me to do SEO (not even sure that was a word back then) and offered to send me a check for $2500 to start. That call took 12 minutes!

Do the math to figure which was more worth while.

Be open to your path taking some turns to show you where the real money is in this business and how you might fit into it.

Those are pretty amazing, inspiring stories to say the least, hehe. I agree eric, from what I have read and seen most people fail on the internet bussiness because they just give up quite too easily. I think it is because they are promised, most of the times, that it will be easy and really quick. But the truth is it requires (like everything else) hard work and true dedication.

I think this is my real passion, it is really something I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life doing. Heck, not only wouldn't mind it...but I would actually like it...I believe! It has been a fun ride thus far, although I havent really made a cent. Hehe! Learning has been exciting tho.

Congrats to you lerx, sometimes real success comes from where we least expect it!

And Jitter, you are way ahead of me man. You are a year younger than me and you have already made money. So I am glad for you!

Thanks for the tips Free-Spirit! I know in my first year I wont make great amount of money, trust me hehe. But it is pretty exciting to say the least. I am really looking forward to get it all moving.

I am just curious, based on the tips and all that....are you making good money? Are you happy with what you are doing?

      Regards!
