Alertpay may be alternative for Paypal. But Paypal is best for me.
Also, it depends on your business which payment processor, you should use.

I did a quick Google search and found a few alternatives for you:

    Google Checkout
    MoneyBookers
    Alertpay
    Paypay

I believe Amazon came up with a service to compete with paypal as well. Here is a link (don't worry,. no affiliate links here)https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdui/index.htm

I haven't used any of the above services myself and thus cannot vouch for them. Just a quick search. You can find reviews from people who have used them with a few Google searches.

Hi I would also recommend alertpay or 2checkout and theres always

Google checkout which I would not recommend.

Alternatively you can always do a search on google.

Make sure to be specific when searching and always use quotation marks when searching for a specific topic.

Like this for example: "online payment processors" or

    "online merchant account"

You will see your search results are much more specific and relevant to what it is you are searching for. And much less to go thorugh to find it.

    There are many different solutions.

I hate to say but I am liking Google Checkout more and more.

The main problem is that you can't do a person to person transfer - i.e. I send some money to your email address.

However it can be worked around pretty easily because you can send someone an email invoice and then they log in and pay.

They have a pretty decent interface to build your own shopping cart as well. I haven't tried yet but I'm thinking GC might be a good way to do one click upsells.

I've also found - only for myself and only in 2 of my niches that google checkout buttons convert better than other stuff that I was using (belcher button). I want to eventually split test that in my other niches as well.

I think, from an end user stand point that paypal has the best branding and name recognition and therefore maybe the most trust, but I would assume (but who knows) that Google Checkout would outperform Alert Pay or some of the others.

The other thing is that before, Google Checkout did not allow you to redirect to a download page after purchase, but now they do, or they send a mail with a link - I am not 100% sure because I never tested the purchase myself.

I'd love to see a split test across various niches to find out the conversions on GC, Paypal, Alertpay, etc. though . . . I'd pay $7 for a report, for sure.

I have been using AlertPay. I think they are good but the only problem is that most people that buy or sell anything online use PayPal.

I have not had any problems with my AlertPay account. Also, their customer service is becoming more customer-friendly. Just check out the site and see if the features suit your nature of business and environment.

I am with you, when I started, I found Google Checkout to be alot better for me. Now I give customers the option of google checkout or paypal and find that 2/3 trust and prefer Paypal.

It depends on your business, but I like Google Checkout over Paypal. If you need a merchant account payment gateway, Linkpoint is good.

I'm a big fan of Paymate: Paymate: Online payment service - sell online, buy online I use them as much as possible and now only use Paypal when I really have to for some reason. They are very secure, they process transfers very quickly (payments are in my bank in two business days) and they don't leave you wide open to fraud like Paypal does.

I've had no problems with them at all and highly recommend them. You'll also see that if you Google them, there are lot of people saying the same thing. They have probably the best percentage of positive reviews I've seen for a payment processor. That was one of the reasons I started with them in the first place, and they've lived up to their reputation.

Very interesting new service offered via American Express. Full online merchant services, no merchant account required. Accepts all major cards, e-checks. Like 2CO but with the Amex brand.

I've used paymate many years ago along side 2Checkout, and I'd have to give 2Checkout my vote. Things may have changed since I used both of these, but from what I can remember 2Checkout was just a whole lot smoother to get up and running and deal with.

I've also used moneybookers, however in all honesty I wasn't really too impressed.

I'm looking for a Paypal alternative as well, and glad I found this thread; I'll check out some of these alternatives mentioned here.

Just a heads up - Paypal will not accept a transaction on an American Express / AMEX card, for more than $200. True story; here's the situation.

I do a lot of business in the offline niche. Customers usually pay by check, but when they pay by credit card, I (used to) process it through Paypal.

Yesterday, my customer, my Paypal representative and myself were together on the phone. Customer tries to pay an invoice for more than $200 and was denied processing. Paypal said that they view transactions on American Express, for $200 or more, as suspicious activity and will not process it.

I clarified this with the Paypal representative by asking, "So, what you are telling me is, if someone wants to pay me using their AMEX card, I either have to give them multiple invoices in increments less than $200, or else not sell them anything more than $200 at a time; is that correct?"

"Yes, that is correct, sir" my Paypal representative told me.

"Well, Paypal is costing me business and creating customer issues where none previously existed. I won't be using Paypal to process my business' transactions."

So, I am looking for a new provider...thanks for the suggestions! And watch out when accepting American Express. None of us - the Paypal person included - could give a better explanation as to why they would advertise as accepting Mastercard, Visa, Discover & AMEX - yet flag AMEX activity as a "suspicious purpose"...
