Advise Needed Regarding Wordpress/Joomla Sites

Hello,
I have a question for experienced webmasters and marketers. I have plans to take my site to the next level by having a lot of content and categories, should I still stick with Wordpress or choose other platforms?

For example, for a weight loss website, I can write on a number of topics like weight loss reviews for products, fitness equipments, weight loss articles etc. Now one of the problems I am running into is the sidebar that stays the same for every post in Wordpress.

Say I want to run specific offers on the sidebar related to the topic in hand- weight loss product offers for weight loss reviews, fitness equipment offers for fitness related articles, can this be done by Wordpress? If so, how? Should I consider platforms like Drupal or Joomla?

    Stick with Wordpress.

I moved from Joomla over to Wordpress because of simplicity.
Even though I understand Joomla very well...it took a long time to grasp.

Wordpress is just the easier option.

Google loves wordpress and I recommend you use wordpress for everything(ranks very high). ..Thats just me As far as the sidebar goes, that doesn't change from page to page. Maybe a webmaster knows how to do it..

I understand the need for simplicity but that is not what I am looking for. Wordpress doesn't give me the option of dynamically changing the sidebars of a post depending on the article I am writing which is a cause of concern for me. So it is in this regard that I am looking for help/advise on whether there is something that I can do in Wordpress that can do it or if I have to look for other platforms.

I'm sure if you do a search you can find a wordpress plugin for that?

You can do it in joomla.

You just add the widget or whatever content you want to add as a module and you can set in what parts of the site you want it to appear.

You might be able to do it with wordpress as well but I just logged into an install and didn't see any way to do it.

Joomla has always been good for a lot of extra functionality that you can add on but with all the plugins being developed I'd say wordpress is just as good for anything that 99% of people would ever want to do.

And like the other posters said - it's much simpler.

If you decide to go with joomla and can't figure it out I think I could explain it via pm if you wanted, but it's a pretty intuitive interface and if you can figure out how to do the normal stuff with it I don't think that would be a problem.

There are a few plugins that can rotate offers in your sidebar in wordpress.

So for Google ranking reasons, i'd go with Wordpress. Just make sure you install the WP Super Cache plugin, otherwise your pages could take far too long to load
