Default how long did it take to get a Page Rank

Hi Guys,

I just noticed that my web site has finally achieved a page rank 1/10 with google

It has taken me several months to get to this stage. I was wondering what the average time factor was to achieve this for a new web site. (mine is 6 months old)

Graham

Are you looking for a business opportunity that’s property related? Well, the answer may be closer than you think – right on your doorstep perhaps. In fact, there’s money to be made anywhere you see a property for sale. Let me explain…

Well...is this true? I got a PR2 just by virtue of being around for a year.

No backlinks or traffic. Or effort.

I think Google's algo's are deep and mysterious...beyond our comprehension

I got a personal blog that I rarely ever post on that has PR 3. A domain that I never do anything on that has PR 2. And the old version of my personal blog that has PR 2. My internet marketing blog which has way more links to it than my other blogs has PR 0.

Yes, they are. SEO...ALL of it...is a person or a group of people's educated guesses. None of us truly know Google's algorithm. It's Top Secret and they're not letting the cat out of the bag. Remember, it's not just webmasters that would like the information, it's competitors as well.

However, we can research high ranking sites and see what they've done. The assumption would be that these things are what gave them the ranking and we can get good ranking by doing some of the same things.

At the moment the PRs seem to have gone haywire.

Last week: Got a PR4 in 3 weeks on a site where very little is happening as yet and a PR4 on a site after 6 months with over 6000 unique visitors a month and good backlinks.

Go figure

Jens

OK. Cool! So how do I get another notch on the bedpost?

Are High PR banklinks still the secret sauce (I know, they won't hurt), or can I expect to continue to earn pagerank...like some pensioner...just for getting old?

Well, since many, if not all, of the sites with the highest Page Rank have High PR sites linking to them, my "educated guess" is that this is something that works.

You can get a page rank quickly if you have a blog or a current site.

Not long ago, I launched a new site. My first site had been around for 5+ years and has a rank of 3 (yeah, not great but what can you do). It took me 3 years or whatever to get to 3. When I launched the second site, I linked back to it from my first site and almost overnight, the second site had a page rank of 2.

So one suggestion would be to start a blog and work it like crazy, then after it's been around awhile (1-2 months) link it to your main site. If the blog is on Blogger or Wordpress, it should get a good rank quickly. You can do the same with the other media sites, like starting a lens on Squidoo.

There are lots of other ways to get quality backlinks. Submit to only directories with high page rank (7, 6, 5, 4). Anything below that is probably not going to help as much. Besides, you don't want to spend a ton of time submitting your site when you can make better progress only doing the top sites. This method does take a bit more time, though, because they don't list you right away.

Take advantage of other people's blogs in your niche with good page rank - post comments with links back to your site. Tour Squidoo and introduce yourself on the best lenses related to your niche... etc. etc.
