wp page editing error...

any idea how to fix this page editing error on the wordpress.org platform?

once I publish a new PAGE [not post], and get back to edit it, the regular editor functions seem to be missing... so there's no way for me to edit the text again... not even when clicking the "visual" tab

All I see is some html code... where's the regular text/editor? Did this happen to you too?

here's a snapshot to see what I'm talking about:

I'm getting quite frustrated...

On your screenshot you've highlighted the "visual/html" tabs.

    Have you clicked on visual?

Edit - woops - I see you said you did that!

have you added a new plug-in lately? Try disabling plug-ins to see if that makes any difference.

      Hi CodrutTurcanu

It could be a theme problem as Anna has said.

Is this a fresh install and have you had this problem before?

It's difficult to answer not knowing either of the two questions. It could be a problem with a corrupted file in your original install.

      Two things to try

      1. Upload and install Deans FCK editor plugin and try again - worth a shot!

      2. If it's a new blog - i.e. not much work done on it try and update the WP version - If you have already done some work on it then before you do that make sure you back up the database! (in case you don't know how to do that there are some vids on youtube)

I hope this is of some help

Ye, I'm thinking either a new plug in you may have installed or like pete and anna said, it could be to do with your theme.

If all else fails. Export your database. Remove WP. Reinstall (I sometimes find you need to do this manually if you've had WP installed before - see the WP site for their Famous 5 Minute Install)

A quick word of warning here. MySQL databases automatically generates a user password (at least mine does). A few days ago I couldn't work out why I was getting an error code on the last step of the 5 Minute install, til I twigged that the password included either a comma or an inverted comma - can't remember which it was. I started again and everything worked fine.)

Then import the database and reinstall theme and plug-ins. A pain, I know.

I have been updating a wordpress blog and it just now did it to me briefly, all I had to do was click in the box and left click like I was highlighting something, and it came back.

I'm not using this on a new blog. And I recall having this problem since months ago... not sure if it's from a plugin/theme

Thx for all the suggestions though.

So, what exactly did you do to quick-fix this problem? Maybe you could show it like in a snapshot?

      Thank you.
