If you have any products, or adsense earning sites in the Weight Loss niche - you're probably experiencing a surge in traffic since Jan 1st.

Seeing as everyone's new years' resolutions have kicked in, people are back at work, mixing with their friends and talking about how much weight they've put on... or burned off on their new Wii Fit - it's the perfect time for a big push.

Article traffic from EZA is up, search queries are up...

Capitalise.

If you have a site in this niche, now is the perfect time to:

1) Get more subscribers
2) Market your weight-loss products more aggressively
3) Write more articles

People are in a buying frenzy for weight loss products right now - the niche is HOT HOT HOT... so what are you going to do about it?

Get moving

Awww.... c'mon Karl.. stop givin' it all away

    Seriously, you're so right.

Here's how my last month went in this niche:

Early December: Bit of a slump in direct weight loss aids/products/services etc

Mid-December: Rise in sales of books/literature in this niche.. products/aids/services sales carried a steady incline towards the end of the month

Late-December: Sales dipped again, only to spike significantly on boxing day, and continue to steadily increase into a bumper first week in January.

Cross promotion in this niche is massive, and essential for a successful campaign. It's funny that you should mention the Wii.. the Wii fit has sold like crazy through all my electrical/gadget sites.

Guess how most(not all) of the traffic for Wii sales arrived at my gadget sites?

Contextual Ads over on the weight loss sites <- cross-promotion.

    Great share, Karl.

    Peace

    Jay

Yeah, I'm afraid I was a bit late on the Amazon bandwagon for this 'resolutions season' - but I'm going to be setting up some really kick-butt campaigns for Wii - Wii Fit Plus etc through Amazon, and all sorts of other Amazon goodies.

BTW Jay, I've been meaning to speak with you - wanna pick your brains on some things, I know you know your stuff and I know graphics - but diversification is key and I'm hoping to build up the residuals. When you're free, let me know and maybe we can talk turkey (no weight loss pun intended)

We can skype or get on the phone real soon, Karl

I'm up and down the country at the moment, but later in the month, or Early February.. I will be getting down to business back at the office and I'd be happy to connect more with the finest graphics artist in the industry

In fact, it'd be a real pleasure!

    Peace

The surge in fitness and weight loss products obviously
picks up every January with peoples New Years Resolutions.
If you go to a gym you always notice it full for the first
    few weeks of January

Here is a tip that made a friend of mine a ton of cash
here in the UK last January. And he is doing the same
    this year too.

    1. Contact all the gyms in your area asking if they want
leads for people interested in joining there gym, work a
price per lead. You can also ask them if you can offer
your leads a special signing up offer to increase conversion.
    Gym's always have these.

    2. Set up an LOCAL AdWords campaign with gym and
fitness related keywords (if the special offer you
have is impressive you can target loose fitness
    keywords
as long as it's locally targeted).

    3. The landing page should focus on lead collection. You
want there name and phone number. You can use various
methods to get them to enter there details i.e. offering
them the OTO or saying you will find the best gym for
them etc.. use your imagination. If it's a keyword that
doesn't relate to them searching for a gym just try and
get there name and e-mail address with a free report
that relates to the fitness term they were searching for.

    4. The people that are interested in a gym you just
ring up and offer them the deal. The ones that were
interested in something fitness related you just put
on an e-mail marketing campaign that ends with
the special local gym offer (i.e. 'We have a great deal on X
Gym memberships for this week only, get in touch
    with us on 0800 101 101').

So the basic business model is obtain local leads
and sell them to a local gym. The only reason my
friend thought of this was because he worked in
his local gym doing sales calls offering special offers
all day! He just worked out a more streamlined
solution that gets him warmed leads.

Another tip: Use accelerated spending with PPC in
    this niche throughout January.

Agreed, people are trying to lose weight that they have gained during holidays

So we can target the niches that focus exclusively on new year resolutions, post holiday needs etc

I am finding this also, even for a new domain I started in December. I am sure not as much traffic as an established domain, but still a nice increase.
