How can you tell if the articles you buy are 1 of a kind original?

I am thinking of buying some articles for my website, but have never done this. (I would like to spend a little more time with my family.)

Is there a way to check to make sure the articles you are buying are original and not PLR or stolen content?

Do you just Google each sentence or paragraph?

Also wondering, once you buy the article, do the authors turn around and sell it as PLR weeks or month later? Or is it yours only?

I don't have a problem with paying for articles, but I would expect to have original content or I might as well do it myself or buy PLR.

Just trying to find out how the game is played, not making any accusations.

Under current US law, when you ask somebody to build something and pay them to build it, it's considered "work for hire" and you own all rights. You may want to confirm this with your writer - especially if it's a non-US writer - but in general, once you've paid for the work and it's delivered, it's just like you wrote it yourself and the writer retains no rights to it.

The best way is to use Copyscape. There is a small cost but it will tell you an awful lot and also if the content is unique. Just google it for details.

When you buy articles check what rights are included. If they come with full rights (rare) then they are yours and will not be sold to anyone else. You can expect to pay more for these. PLR rights means that you have the articles but they will be sold to others. Good value particularly if they are being sold to a low number of customers such as 20 or 30.
