Hi,

I've been working really hard on a niche and i had two 1st page rankings and six 2nd page rankings... then today I check my rankings with market samurai and I find that were I was ranking between numbers 7 and 10, I'm now 564!!! and now my best rank is 18 and the second best is 36!

WTF! is all I could think... so I went and did the manual checks and no, it wasn't an issue with market samurai - google had b*tch slapped me hard.

Has anyone got any idea what's happening? Is this just a google dance? should I calm down and wait?

Any suggestions and answers would be very warmly appreciated :-)

Thanks

    How old is the website?
Did you do very aggressive backlinking?
Did you cloak your affiliate links?

      Hi,

its 4 years old with a PR 4. I bought it and it was in a totally different niche and i'm doing about 200 links to it a week (senuke).

i dont cloack the affiliate links, not yet anyway.

I just added a video 'pop-up' thing that isnt really a pop-up (ie, google doesnt see it as such) with a plugin called edge light squeeze.

If any of your questions have a bearing on my rankings, why has it taken google so long to notice them?

      thanks

PS: when i had bought it, it had already had more than 3500 backlinks to it.

Has there been an algorithm change?

        or

        Am I somehow being punished?

And what do i need to look at in order to make that decision?

Cloak all your affiliate links. I also have Edge Light Squeeze and it didn't do anything to my rankings.

If you recently started doing 200 backlinks a week then that might be your issue as well.

I agree. Slow down on your backlinks.

      Not all backlinks are good.

If their not relevant backlinks that coincide what your site is about then your just wasting time and google does not like that.

Its more considered like spam to them.

        Hi,

I've been at this for 3 months... steadily and consistently... and all the backlinks that I'm getting are relevant... I'm using seNuke, so they're all from articles that I created and social bookmarking etc.

I recently did a video submit with traffic geyser also.
