What do affiliates prefer?

Hi,

I'd like to get some feedback from affiliates about how they prefer an offer to be set up.

Basically all sales that I ever make are mostly to my own internally generated lists. I think out of 100 sales I might ever see two affiliate referrals.

Mainly I do very tightly focused niche stuff that there isn't a big market for anyway, but I have have an idea for a new project that I've just registered a new domain for, and want to really try to build it with affiliate referrals when I'm ready to launch it.

So here are my questions, in no particular order:

1. Squeeze page/Sales Page?

As an affiliate which do you prefer?

My immediate guess is a push straight to a sales page, but I've never really asked or read about that before, so I don't know what converts better for affiliates.

I think that if you're using clickbank for example the referral should be cookied for 60 days or so, so as long as the email sequence is not to long I would think it would be ok. Again - no idea so I want to ask about it.

2. Heavy on pre-sales/launch content or light?

I guess on the surface this seems like a stupid question, but I've heard guys like Ryan Deiss talk before about giving to much away and training people to not buy, so I don't really know exactly what peoples perception on this issue would be.

3. Preferred TYPE of pre-sales content?

When I watch big guru launches, most of it is just social proof and some scarcity. It seems like social proof is the overwhelming majority of pre-sales content. Do affiliates generally prefer it to be done this way, or would people rather that valuable and actionable content was given away?

4. Price points?

Again seems like a stupid question but I think it's worth asking about. Would you rather promote high ticket products with lower sales volume or less expensive products (but still high quality) that are more likely to convert?

5. One time sale vs. Continuity

I don't know which generally convert better for affiliates. I would think that the residual income would be preferred but my guess is that it might not convert as well as a one time purchase.

Those are the main questions I have on my mind at the moment but I'm sure there are more.

I would be grateful if any active affiliates could answer these for me, as well as provide some insight as to what specific elements they look for when choosing whether or not to promote an offer.
