How Do You Add a Clickable TOC to a PDF ?

Hi Warriors,

I have a little publication that I do (not IM related) which is usually just a few pages. I lay out the graphics and text in MS Publisher 2007 and then save it as a PDF. I distribute the PDF to the subscribers.

This time it has grown to be rather large and I would like to add a Table of Contents with the items linked so that if you click on them it takes you to the appropriate page. I know that I could do this if I bought Acrobat Reader but it is almost $300. Is there another way?

Thanks in advance.

Use open resource "Open Office". Specifically - OpenOffice.org Forum :: clickable links in table of contents?

You can do it with Open Office as Metro suggested or you can do the same thing with Microsoft Word. Once you have the doc the way you want it in either program just save as PDF and you've got it.

    • OpenOffice looks like the way to go. I have it installed so I'll give it a shot. Doing it in Word is tough because Publisher to Word conversions have been difficult for me in the past.

Thanks to all who answered. I was really at a dead end.

      • Just in case anyone else comes across this thread, the Open Office solution worked and saved me hours of creating hyperlinks.
