Default Can't afford PhotoShop - Gimp too hard?

I just found this great tool using stumbleupon and I think it would be ideal for anyone who wants to make simple graphics, or make changes to headers etc:

SUMO Paint

It's an online painting application and it's a lot more powerful than most that I've come across.

I have PhotoShop... paid for - and am getting CS4 when it is released.
I'm also aware of Adobe's online version.

Karl,

Just had a quick look at Sumo and it looks really good. Have you sussed it's limitations yet?

Kory,

Photoshop's trial versions are readily available - I do hope you're not pointing members to warez sites! That wouldn't be sensible.

I've not had chance yet... but it's something I'll be looking at when I come to put together the graphics course (as a free alternative)

Hey Karl,

Thanks man....

Sumo looks very good. I'm an artist so I'd like try my hand at
this and play around.....

Might be quite nice to be able to come up with some customised
headers....

Regards

I personally consider myself as a newbie to GIMP.
But my I had experience a couple of years using photoshop.

After a few month using GIMP,I can now easily switch
between those two(Photoshop andf GIMP) because I can make
almost all effects that I want in both photoshop and GIMP.

I think it is not hard to learn GIMP.Google around. You can
see many tutorials on the internet.I learn GIMP based on
those tutorials.I never buy any stuff like tutorial for GIMP.
Information is around the internet, just need some more
extra time to find it.

By the way, I love your finding.SUMO paint seems to be
good alternative also for GIMP.But can they open up
psd file?I was wondering..

If you love photoshop very much. And familiar with the features.
You can try GIMPshop.com - A GIMP hack by Scott Moschella.

Looks like they were able to put some very cool images together with that tool. I'm currently using Gimp, but this might be worth checking out.

Gimp does take some getting used to but after my first couple of strokes and minor heart attacks with it, it's now tamed and under control.

Plenty of stuff out there "Gimp" related including a series of tutorial videos. Do a quick search and they should come up.

I'll see if I can dig up the link I used to download them and post it here - no promises.

Paint.net is a great little graphics program and also uses layers so is great for the price. Free.

Here is a video for you to look at.

I have Photoshop but I still like professionals to do the graphics for me. I can never get them looking as good as someone that knows what they are doing.

There are going to be a lot more big companies migrating to online applications soon...

MS is doing it, Adobe is testing it with their lite photoshop version.
