Does Google Penalize Sites with Banner Ads/Text Ads?

I am building up my site via SEO on some non competitive keywords. I have two banner ads on site, CPA and CJ.

Is it hard to rank with ads on page? Does Google penlize you?

If you are going to do SEO you must cloak all your affiliate links. If you are using wordpress search for a plugin called simple link cloaker in your plugins section. I also recommend using this plugin shadow link cloaker as it will cloak all your affiliate links. You do not want Google to see that you are an affiliate or Google will send your site to the sandbox or deindex it. If fact when you first launch a site you should not have any affiliate links on it until it has been indexed. Then add your links once you start to get traffic. Traffic should be your first Goal when doing SEO.

Hope this helps and made sense

I have some sites with out my affiliate links cloaked and they are still indexed but I do recommend cloaking your links, I use pretty link for a plugin for wordpress.

Pretty link also shows stats and you can add no follow to the links as well.

I am not too familiar with that. But again you do not want to let Google see your affiliate links. If you are not getting any traffic to your site then you should not begin to worry about making money with your affiate links. You should instead focus on backlinking and adding content and by doing that you are gaining Googles trust and you should soon start to see traffic. Once you start getting traffic and visitors then you can add your affiliate link /banner ad. I also recommend finding some way of cloaking your Banner ads/text links if you can.

nofollow is designed to tell search engine the link you included is not editorial... therefore eliminate the
risk of linking to the wrong website... the ad itself is not a negative factor for rank computation..banner or textual

Thanks for clarifying as I was under the impression that G was trying to penalize sites with affiliate links, etc..

Huh? Maybe I'm missing something but since when has Google 'penalized' a site because it displays banner ads, Adsense, affiliate offers or otherwise?

If that were the case, you would not see ANY newspaper site (e.g. The New York Times), advertising based blog (e.g. TechCrunch) or all sorts of other sites indexed in Google!

We have certainly had no issue with Google and of course we run banner ads, affiliate offers, etc on our sites.

Google is not against advertising or affiliate marketing. What it doesn't like are sites that qualify as 'link farms' or that have nothing except for advertising or affiliate marketing links (i.e. no content) and, yes, it will remove those kinds of sites from its index (if it indexed them in the first place).

As for text links, Google's Matt Cutts is on the record for saying that selling links to pass PageRank violates Google's quality guidelines. For more on that check out InLinks Text Link Ads Aim To Fool Google | Kikabink News - Internet Marketing News

Thats what ive been thinking all these years.Evry time i hear this.
Like amazon, they are nothing but a big affiliate site. They sell nothing of there own and every person on there is an affiliate basiclly.I just ordered a book from there and it came from another state that amazon isnt even in and it came from a private person.
How about all the sites im competing against when i click on there links and it takes me to there affiliate page? Are they cloaked so that i can go to them but google cant?
Or is that what you mean by nofollow,i can follow them but google cant?
If thats the case, isnt google wondering why they cant spider all these zillions of links.
