Wordpress question...HELP!!!

14 replies
I went in to play with colors in the CSS (gazette theme) and changed it and then the header on my site was gone!!!
I changed it back....and still gone!!!!

I can't figure out for the life of me what I did???

I tried to upload another header into my themes/ folder and still no success...it would seem that the files are there and when I hover over the space (in my site)that the header was, I can see the border of the header!
So, it would seem that it's there but it's invisible!

Thanks for any help,
Joe

      Why not just copy the theme over...just place a new copy of the theme into the "themes" folder?

    Some elements in your CSS handle the structure of your site, including images.

    Have you tried re-uploading the header.php and default css files?

    Is this a premium Woo Theme? They have excellent support, just contact them but there's are really well documented to.

    Next time, before you make changes ALWAYS keep your original file in a safe place so if it explodes on-line, you can at least put it back

    @gotdmw

    The usual troubleshooting should go like this:
    - see if the theme is compatible with the latest WP that you are using (2.9.1)
    - switch to the default theme and see if your category archive pages are displayed
    - disable all the plugins and turn them back one by one, checking after each the display of categories

      Forgive me if everyone already knows this but perhaps try a hard refresh.

      Open your site in your browser than:

      Press "CTRL" - "F5" to clear your cache and reload the page from scratch, sometimes this helps you and will get your new changes to show up.

    It's not cache. Except the video cat the other category archives don't show. The code gets cut in the head section of those pages... obviously some wrong code.
    Hence my advice above how to troubleshoot.

    EDIT. I was addressing gotdmw's post and didn't realize you (kcscomer) were replying to the OP. Sorry.

    @gotdmw,

    No, I don't think 15 articles would be "too much". I have seen categroies with thousands of posts - of course, nobody displays them all on one single page

    As I said, there is something wrong in the header file: check the source code of those pages where nothing is displayed and you will see where the code stops rendering.

    Are you saying with the default theme and no plugins at all it still behaves the same?

    chippy69,

    Uploading a fresh copy of the screwed up style.css file didn't help? Then you did more than just messing with the colours in it...

    Did you try downloading a fresh copy of your theme and to upload it again to the themes folder?
