    Yes, be very careful...

Notice how Big Mike changed just one letter in his own title to throw you off...

He may be Greek but he is really a Drunken Geek and the second title can be purchased from the warrior title mill for $37

You may know that we can assign ourselve Custom User Titles - for example, mine is Drunken Greek. These are just there for fun mostly, and are meaningless in most cases, except to the member creating it.

In reading a thread tonight I happened to notice this one:

There are two things about this that are misleading - the first is that no one has "Officially" assigned the title "Trusted Warrior" to this member - he or she made it up.

Now, this person may well be perfectly trustworthy, and I'm not here to sully his or her good name. However, I can see how a newer member might read too much into that, especially for a WSO. Just keep in mind, the Warrior Forum did not assign that title.

The second thing is the 5 stars in avatar - in the Snitz version of the WF (the pervious forum), you "Earned" stars as your post count got higher and higher. You also earned a title to go along with those five stars - "Senior Warrior".

I mention that because I've seen quite a few Custom User Titles with Senior Warrior in them, along with a number of other variations that are not in fact "Official" titles. And I'm not all that sure that these folks would have been Senior Warriors if we were still using the Snitz forum.

There is one other thing I noticed when I was reading a different thread that I guess you should also look out for - I saw a WSO with a title of "WSO Of The Day Award" and to my knowledge, there is no such award.

In fact, unless Allen has personally gone into a WSO and given a recommendation for it, you should know that the Warrior Forum does not endorse WSO's or give them awards of any kind.

These and other titles, like, "Best Selling WSO Ever" or "Most Commented WSO Ever" are made up by the seller. There is no way to know for certain which WSO was the best selling, and if you see claims about the most commented WSO's, go look at it and you'll see fully half the comments were made by the seller.

Now, obviously folks do these things for credibility (Social Proof), but you must take them with a grain of salt. Just like high post counts, thanks given and times thanked, etc., none of them are absolutely clear indicators of anyone's credibility or success.

As always, the best way to determine someone's credibility is to look at their past history, the posts they've made, and ask around if need be.

Don't assume what you see on the surface is entirely accurate - just saying...

P.S. - Not sure if it can be done, but maybe the Word Warrior could be added to an exclude list for Custom User Titles.

        Mike,

        Thanks for this post.

Since I'm 6' 6" and almost 250 pounds I think I'm going to change my Custom User Title to "One of the Biggest Internet Marketers of All Time".

I think it has a nice ring to it...

Oh I know exactly what you mean Mike, I have had this argument on so many different forums before and will probably continue to have it long after the internet has been switched off lol

I have always argued most vehemently that anyone who has the trust of the owner or the admins if they are a forum mod or senior/distinguished member gets a unique tag that no one can copy...that is of course if the senior members actually do any moderating.

Of course here apparently we are all moderators so you have no right to say that I cannot put whatever the hell I want in my tag :p (joking)

If someone is a mod, they get a tag. Make people able to see who are trusted or simply take the mod powers from everyone.

Never been all that partial to secret police or self confessed paragons of the forums when anyone can claim the role.

I've got e-mails on two occations from a marketer talking about how it is an honour to get "elected" for wso of the day.

Here are the exact quotes (names & links left out)

p.s My popular ________ WSO just got elected "WSO OF THE DAY". If you don't have it yet, you can today save __% of the regular price.
        Check it here: _____________
Anyway, I just learned that the Warrior forum decided to run my latest WSO (name of product) as 'WSO Of The Day'

This is a great honor and I want you to take a look, especially if you don't have a copy yet.

        Go here: _____________

Only great WSO's with awesome testimonials get a chance to be the 'WSO Of The Day'.

If you use the warrior pro you can JV with the WF, with Warrior Pro, and also be asked to be the WSO of the day.

It is interesting that one of the WSO of the day, is the same WSO Jack Tackett was talking about yesterday which was telling you to break copyright law.

I wonder if the only thing which is considered for the WSO of the day is the number of sales they have. I would have thought to endorse a product they should at least read it to make sure it is honest.

I've seen the "WSO of the Day" awards, but I hadn't paid much attention to who was getting them or how they were getting them. After reading this thread, I'm with you that the folks giving out these awards need to seriously change the way they're doing things.

      It's down right misleading.

First, it's misleading because it sounds as if Allen himself is endorsing WSOs. Secondly, if you think Allen or the WF is endorsing these WSOs personally, then the natural assumption is that these are GOOD products and trustworthy sellers.

Apparently that's not the case. Apparently those factors aren't even a consideration. (At least that's what I'm gathering from this thread.)

Problem is, this thread -- Big Mike's warning -- is eventually going to fall of the front few pages and get buried. New forum members won't see it. And so they'll be left assuming that "WSOs of the Day" are good, honest products endorsed by this forum.

If they run into products like Jack did (copyright infringement) -- and if they realize the product is endorsing something illegal -- they're going to assume the WF endorses stuff like that.

Alternatively, some beginners may assume that surely a product endorsed by the WF is 100% legal... and they'll apply the methods. Yikes. Double yikes.

      Thanks for the warning, Mike.

      Cheers,
      Becky

WSO of the Day is NOT an AWARD.

Here's the link to the thread that introduced "WSO of the Day" and explains how it works.

As for Allen's thoughts about WSO Pro, this thread in the War Room should shed some light. It doesn't address "WSO of the Day" specifically, but does touch on using WarriorPlus's WSO Pro system to JV with the Warrior Forum.

Someone mentioned "Due Diligence" and when all is said and done, I agree with that completely. Members simply need to be aware that some misrepresentation on the part of the seller (not Warrior Pro) is clearly taking place and should question it, especially when it comes to WSO's.
I agree completely. Whoever is claiming they received the "WSO of the Day Award" is shooting their credibility in the foot. Bordering on a blatant hypster I'd say. You don't buy awards. And that's basically what the WSO of the Day is. You're buying more exposure to your WSO by selling it at an even steeper discount.

Wow. I never thought about the effect that these titles could have. Prior to reading this thread I had "Platinum Level Warrior" figuring that everyone would know it was a joke.

I've now seen the error of my ways.

BTW IMHO DogScout has the BEST title EVER.

Hmmm, I didn't realize "WSO of the Day" was solely based on sales activity. I thought those WSO's were selected on more merits but that was just my assumption since I haven't looked over the warrior plus program.

I also didn't know WSO's not using Mike's service didn't qualify for "WSO of the Day". I need to pay more attention.

I knew about the custom titles and yes several of those have made me roll my eyes.

Even the default titles need to be taken with the grain of salt since it's just based on the number of posts made.

    Hey Big Mike,

Good topic here, I'll add my own thoughts...

I think the mods should have some rule on
self assigned titles. I know we are a marketing
forum, having some kind of space for promoting
ourselves should be alright, but when it's already
misleading, then that's where the FTC errrr....I mean
    the mods come in...

    It's just a title, I know but here's what I felt about
each title I earned in this forum.

each forum assigned title I earned here..was sort
of like an accomplishment for me..Not because of
having more prestige, no..I felt some kind of personal
    accomplishment along with it..

The best feeling I had was when I turned Senior
Warrior Member last Dec. 24, I was so happy, it was
a day before Christmas and I felt it was one of the
most valuable gift I got for Christmas..

Not because of prestige or anything, but because I
knew that I've learned enough about Internet marketing,
enough to earn that title. Enough to stand on my own
and be confident that I'm a Senior Warrior now..

Somebody with enough experience to somehow make it
    online..

    I didn't created a new thread announcing it..I didn't
giveaway some PLR or stuff, I just celebrated it by myself
congratulated myself and had some drinks..After all it's just
a title..what matters is what we learned here..What we
are now capable of doing after we earned that Senior Warrior
    Title..

So again, maybe some kind of moderation of self-assigned
titles will be alright, just to protect the people here....
    But that's just me..

    All the best,

I trusted everything he had to say because I thought someone from "on high" bestowed the title of "Drunken Greek" to him.

    Now I know...

What about these titles under username ?

    - "Want extra income ?", "Make money quick", "I follow u follow". These types of titles are attractive for newbies.

I don't really pay attention to the post count as I've seen more than a few "advanced warriors" whose contribution to this forum are literally 5 word nothing responses.

I also think the "WSO of the Day" is incredibly misleading to newbies who trust this forum and have yet to learn to do their 'due diligence' around anything involving marketing.

I thought "WSO of the Day" is linked to warriorforum? Have stopped buying WSO for quite sometimes, lost track of what's happening.

That's the problem - with new people joining all the time and many of them being told to come here and scam the members (from other forums), there are probably a lot of people who have no idea who owns the forum or that the WSO of the day is not actually anything to do with the forum, just riding on the back by offering a useful tool that members can use. It could just as easily have a 'best WSO of all time' tag on it, but it would be meaningless as far as this forum is concerned.

Anyone who doesn't know whose forum this is can hardly be an involved member.

There are a lot of people who literally just come here to post their signature links and scam people with lame WSOs that are just rehashed PLR stuff and I think it's amazing that the forum is run so well that we tend to only get glimpses of this stuff.

Stuff like changing the avatars to have stars and putting 'trusted warrior' to fool people that don't know better just screams desperation.

        Andy, very true.

Sadly, those who have been here for only a couple of months, and then bragging about being awarded the WSO of the day, and getting the forum owner wrong, shows how little they want to give to the forum.

Another fact to add to Amy, not everybody who uses the Warrior Pro button selects to be the WSO of the day, or do a JV with the Warrior Pro.

I have no idea, but I would guess the biggest decision for chosing the wso of the day has to be finance. Also if you don't pay an extra $18 to run using the warrior pro system you will never be considered to be the wso of the day.

One common factor is that many of them are making big claims for income, and some are obviously hype, and others telling you to break copyright, so I would doubt they have been checked.

For those who don't know what the WSO of the Day is, and isn't, the announcement posted on this forum is here: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ays-offer.html

"Each "WSO of the Day" will have been personally reviewed by us and/or have been selling well and getting great reviews from Warriors here in the WSO forum"

and the statistics for WSO Pro are here: WSO Pro - The all-in-one WSO sale, delivery and management system | WarriorPlus

From that you can come to your own conclusion as to what the designation signifies. It's not, as one person stated today, a matter of being chosen from "thousands".

I was actually quite surprised when I saw that you can change your title right from the get-go.

In many forums, you can't do that until you've reached something like a minimum amount of posts or thanks/rep.
