Hi warriors,

recently I've been thinking about this quesiton a lot. Do people really prefer videos or are reports the way to go?

I used to think that creating videos is better than creating reports because more people are visual learners, however with trying out both of the methods, I have found that reports are generally more viewed than videos.

I understand that this may vary according to different situations, however in general, si it just me or do people really prefer reports over videos?

What do you think?

Kevin

Reports are better because they are easier to follow along while you learn.

Videos are a great "addon" to show what you are teaching but it's frustrating trying to follow many videos.
Especially if it's a very slow or fast talker with a strong accent.

My vote is for a printable report.

I see.. so you basically see a video as an addition to a report, and not possibly replacing the report altogether?

Hmm.. never though of it that way.

So what do you think of the aspect that people tend to be visual creatures? Do you think that maybe some people will see a video as being superior to a report?

Some people will. There are several modalities such as visual, auditory, kinestthetic and more.

It depends on what type works best for you with the particular subject.

A teacher would benefit the student the most by using several modalities so that people that learn in different ways can all succeed.

Also by using different techniques you can help clarify your points.

Sure in an ideal world you should have both.

But I'm interested to see if people were to have either or, which one would they choose..

Great points Lambert. Will definitely start to do both whenever possible.

    Thanks for the input.

I like to do both as well for two reasons:

    1) You can teach certain things better on certain medias.
    2) Having both signficantly increases the perceived value of the product - especially if you can make a nice virtual product display. Makes it seem like you are getting something of major value.

The only thing that sucks about it is it's basically twice the amount of work lol.

    Agree with both.

My products usually consist of both, though I must admit my videos aren't top notch because of my basic video recording skills.

Not to mention my asian voice.

But have to say that at times videos CAN BE difficult for people to watch...so a report is great for those who prefer to skim through and read stuff quick.

Thank God someone finally brought it up!

Lately, I've been kind of annoyed with all the videos out there. Everyone seems to be making videos and more videos.

Personally, I like to get a PDF report where I can read through it quickly and research/implement the ideas that appeal to me the most. I don't want to sit and watch seven 24 minute videos (basically an all night project), just to get some information out of it.

So, for me, it's definitely reports. But as many said, videos may be easier for the visually inclined, or those who kind of need their hand held and walked through each step.

Ofcourse, somethings can only be shown on video.. but overall reports are still the best.

If I had to choose one out of the two, definitely PDF reports for me.

Yes, nice point about the 7, 24 minute videos.. Seems like there are a lot of courses that are divided that way and they really require some effort to get through them.

Thanks for that Legend. However, it still doesn't hurt to ask for an opinion and see what other people who are in the same field think.

Yes seems to be another point in favour of a report. If the English is well written it will be understood. If it is well spoken, there could be some problems with accents and such.

      Thanks for your input warriors,

Videos VS Reports. This is something which has to be tested. Some markets reports are better digested by customers, but in other niches videos are the way to go.

Videos are much more easy to view, as people like to watch than read.

My Tip: Try using abit of both video and reports in your market and make sure you track and test your results!

I use videos a lot but I think I am going to add in some reports after reading this. I have had great feedback about video, but I must agree that different learning styles would probably prefer both

    Thanks

Thanks for the input ViralMaster and bluenetworx.

It seems that most people prefer a mix of both videos and reports, then reports and then videos alone.

I guess it makes a lot of sense considering that the majority of people do not take the time to create a mix of both.
