Hi.

I am wondering is it ok to edit the html code provided by amazon? In my case the name of the book is way too long, having an effect on the look at feel of my website. Is it ok to shorten it without any problems?

Cheers

Jim

    Hi Jim,

Do you mean shortening your url code?

It may be worth looking back at the Terms and Conditions associated with being an Amazon Affiliate, before considering making any changes to your unique code.

If you are still unsure, then you can always contact them.
That way you'll get a direct response to your query.

Amazon is very clear on this.

You may not shorten, change, rearrange, cloak, redirect... you name it, you can't do it. As the above poster said, read their TOS.

I have read about associates loosing their accounts because they did some kind of cloaking or iFraming.

No not the URL to where the link gets directed. Just the title of book. If for example the title of the book is:

"Teas: Types of Teas From the World. Sit Down Enjoy, Relax, Put your Feet Up and Watch the Word Go By on a Sunny Afternoon in August"

I would have thought it might be preferable to call the book: "Teas: Types of Teas From the World" if text advertising is used. Is it allowed?

      Thanks.

      James.

    Hi James,

I think it's best that if you do shorten it, then you give other relevant information such as the author, publisher, ISBN code, etc.

Doing this would be like a cross-reference to the same information.

Again, if you are still unsure, contact Amazon to get a direct response.
