Where are you getting your free Wordpress themes?

I would like to know what you guys think is hot right now (theme wise)!

    I like to check out Top Wp Themes: Top Wordpress Themes - Best Free Themes for Wordpress, they throw new themes up there pretty frequently. For paid themes though I love the Studiopress themes.

    I find many of my WP themes simply by running a Google search (e.g., "dog WP theme").

    Don't worry about what's "hot" right now. If you choose a theme because it's hot, then your blog is going to look like thousands of others (especially if you don't modify it at all).

    Instead, focus on choosing a theme that's user friendly, clean and fits in with your niche. If you can't find what you're looking for, you can even hire someone to create your perfect theme.

    There's hundreds of good, free themes at:

    Only thing I would suggest is to be careful when using free WP themes from there or anywhere for that matter.

    I installed a theme from the above mentioned site and later realized there was a very small link in the footer called "Laptops". It went to some laptop affiliate site obviously. I think a lot of the free WP theme providers are doing sneaky stuff like that to build link-popularity for their own sites. Then of course you have to edit the proper template to get rid of it.

    I don't think most theme designers are trying to sneak in links. They put time and effort into the themes, even though they are not going to see any money from selling them. For every theme that someone uses, they get backlinks to their site. Doesn't seem like a bad trade off. Be careful to check their terms before you remove links - they may request that you leave it as part of using the theme.

      I have no problem with leaving a link that gives them credit for the design and points to their design website.. or at least a semi-professional site. Obviously that's the trade-off for using a free design, and rightfully so.

      However, I am not going to leave a link in the footer that says "LAPTOPS", "BEST CASINO GAMES", "CHEAP CIALIS", OR " BUY VIAGRA" and links to some cookie-cutter affiliate website.
