How Would I Find Out What Teenagers Are Buying

I'm trying to find out what teenagers are buying online especially young girls.

I know about amazon & eBay's hot items but I need to find out what
type of products there buying first.

Find a teenager and ask them. Or ask a few of them. I find out all sorts of things from my nieces (that live with us). Skins for cell phones are hot, particularly a site called Skinit. Any cellphone accessories for that matter as well as ringtones and games for their cellphones. These guys and all their friends are heavy into Facebook games like Fish Life and Farmville (I think I got the names right...lol).

Yeah, surveying a bunch of teenagers is a good method of doing it.

You can also do some spying in forums, and social media sites.

Since you are an internet marketer, I suggest you find the top websites they visit. Get a list of about 10 that you think are good. Then take those urls over to quantcast and see where else they are going on the internet. Quantcast also gives you demographic info.

young teenager girls aren't buying jack online LOL

They don't have credit cards. My advise though If you want to target that market, is to get into CPA offers for weight loss, teeth whitening, stretch mark removal, and other beauty related stuff..

marketing to teenager is the toughest job as what is in can change sooner than you have your product ready for the market.. read it up on how Toy R Us works in their marketing department.. stick with games.. ring tones.. digital content for social network sites.. little silly things.

I'm 17. I spend my money largely in online games, gifts for family, and internet marketing tools.... Of course, I may not be the right teenager to survey

Haha... that funny Gran. Good one. I know some descent thinking teenagers and they spend a lot on movies and online games. It's a phase from ages 12 - 24 even at times... if they grow up slow.

Games and movie downloads - for boys

Girls.... hmm.... accessories, how to be pretty and some - weight loss.

Hope those help.... If not... ask through survey monkey.

why would you not go and buy all of the teenager mags, go home dump them on the table, open them up and look at what the big boys are promoting in the ads.

60 minutes full research is done and finished, these guys do not spend big bucks advertising stuff that is probably not selling.

That the best one yet, your right advertisers don't continue
to spend money if the teenagers are not buying.

I know mine are spending up big on those bracelets that you buy charms for, at around 100$ a charm they still keep buying them, one has over 20 so thats close to 2K worth of crap on her arm the second is not far behind that.

    good luck with it.

    Teenagers...

Pregnancy books maybe? Its hard to sell drugs through the internet, so I guess that isn't an option.
The second bit of this cracked me up lol, the advantage it hink with teenagers is viral, you put agood video up aimed at them, or come up with a good site like there was one called glitter babe ? or something on facebook and my sister hammered my credit card buying accesories for her glitter babe lol, then it gets spread quickly i mean when my step daughter watchs xfactor, she has to be on facebook at the same time to see what everyone else is writting lol,

I thought my answer was going to be jocular but instead it is more cliché. Apparently, a large number of us think you should ask a teenager what is phat, nasty, wicked, or off the chain.

Depending upon what your product is, and what you are trying to market will differ greatly as to which teen group you ask though.

If your marketing internet services the head cheerleader may think a white hat is a fashion mistake if worn out of season. I give my apologizes to the cheerleaders out there.

One more easy way, hunt out some teenage girls websites, blogs, webcams, and social sites. A large percentage of them use Amazon wish lists hoping some one is going to buy them things.

What they have on those lists are what other teens are already buying.

    This website is also great:

Youth marketing to teens, tweens & Generation Y (Gen Y) - Daily news & commentary @ Ypulse

It's geared toward those that market to youth.

BTW--A friend of a friend apparently does quite well selling vinyl cutouts of "Edward Cullen" (the main vampire in Twilight) which teens put on the walls of their bedrooms. Kinda creepy if you ask me...

    Love,

I really don't think you're funny. Drug abuse is a serious problem amongst teenagers. Why not contribute something useful to the "pregnant drug-abusing teenage community" in stead of posting crap like this.
