Ok to use istockphoto image as profile photo for blog??

Is it okay to use an image of a person that is purchased thru istockphoto of maybe something downloaded off of sxc.hu as a profile photo for blogs that I am building, or for use as an author resource box image?

Thanks in advance for any clarity you could provide!

I've used a slightly different approach where I say something like; Making money online has given me the freedom to pursue my other interests.. I then have a general pic of whatever it is my other interest may be. ie Pohotography or Surfing or whatever.

Is this a slightly shady approach? I just couldn't find a pic I was happy with on istock so I came up with this approach instead. Any thoughts anyone on what the best approach is if you don't want to use your own pic or your pic doesnt fit the niche etc.

I know you can't use them to endorse a product etc..

A profile page would probably be different?

How weird would it be if you were surfing around the net and saw your picture on someones profile page? I guess if you have posed for a stock photo you might not be that surprised though.

I think you could shoot an email to the stock photo place you plan to use and see if that is OK.

I think Cashcow has the right idea here.

I like the idea of using a family members photo... or photoshop a new photo from a few pics of you and your friends.... Could be a bit of a monster though!

You need to get permission from the subject of the photo if it is a downloaded profile image.

      In a word, NO.

You would be continuingly violating the spirit of the license by implying the person in the photo is endorsing your viewpoints.
