I like Amazon because they have everything that you could ever want to promote and a great system to sell people other related items when they buy stuff and you get commissions on all of it!

A lot of my sales are not even for the items I am promoting but other things that people bought after clicking through from one of my sites.

The commission is pretty low but the added items kind of make up for it.

    Hope that helps!

I've had very good luck with Amazon.

I've promoted some CJ products, but found I did better with Amazon overall. And I never had any problems with Amazon, but I have run into problems with some CJ companies.

the thing that appeals to me is the range of products, the brand name everyone knows and respects and i believe physical products will convert better.

Amazon is really easy to make sales with. All you have to do is throw up a quick product review page on 1 of the 30,000+ products they offer, and the sales will soon follow. Some minor backlinking is required, but it's nothing too crazy.

Even if you only make $10 per sale, who cares! If you can sell just 5 a day at that rate you are already making $50 a day.

Not bad money if you ask me.

Right now Tiffany Dow is doing a 52 week tutorial on using Squidoo to promote Amazon products. She just started doing it, and if you want just check out here youtube channel. The results are just amazing.

I've been an Amazon affiliate for years, and love them. I don't earn huge money from them, but the paychecks are reliable. It's one affiliate program that I can count on, every month of the year, and it's even better at the holidays.

My favorite Amazon affiliate sale was when someone bought a travel book I recommended, and also bought a camera and luggage from Amazon. That was a very nice commission!

Review sites are good, but I get better results when I mention a book (or other product) in my regular blog posts or articles. I always link the title of the book to Amazon, and add a discreet display ad at the foot of the post/article, too.

I use AmazonSimpleAdmin in my WP blogs. [Link: WordPress › AmazonSimpleAdmin WordPress Plugins ] It's a free plugin that makes adding links easy. I especially like it that the resulting display ad shows the lowest price for the book (used books) and that tends to get people to click.

Tip: When you look up the book on Amazon, the ISBN is the number that's in the URL at the top of the page. You don't need to scroll through the page to find the ISBN. (You'll enter the ISBN into the AmazonSimpleAdmin line, to get the display ad to appear on your WP page.)

Has anyone come up with a work around for the people that live in North Carolina and the fact that amazon will not let you be an affiliate ?

I would love to promote Amazon products.

I think that's a short-term problem. I've heard of a couple of people who obtained out-of-state addresses to get around it, but I can't recommend that.

Amazon wants affiliates in every state. I'm sure they're working on the issue, but you can ask them about this, directly and in their forums.

These are by far my favorite sites to create and promote and I would highly recommend them, especially if you are new to IM.

Amazon is super easy to use, is easy for newbies to sign up as affiliates and Amazon ROCKS at closing sales.

I like CJ and Share-A-Sale too but if you are just getting started, Amazon has my thumbs up!

I use WordPress and the WP AmaNiche and absolutely love this combination! You can get your site setup really quick, pull in your products, customize a few of your product listings - BAHM, you've got unique content! Write a review page for the top 3 selling products in your niche - BAHM, you've got valuable content...sprinkle with some backlinks and you are pretty much set...super newbie friendly too.

WP AmaNiche is super easy to use and modify and their support rocks too.

Although Amazon's % is low that they pay, they pay you a % on any sale so the key is really being able to drive traffic to it...Amazon converts, but does take some elbow grease, depending on what niche you are promoting

Well, now you know my money making method for 2010 and beyond!

    Plus points of Amazon

    1) One of the biggest stores
    2) People trust it and more likely to buy from it
    3) Provides great set of affiliate tools
    4) Easy to sell your own products (great for public domain & Kindle)
    5) Mind boggling range of products to choose from

    Minus points of Amazon
    1) Low commission (4% to start with & 8.5% Max)
    2) Cookie expires after 24 hours
    3) If you are from US and your customer is not, then you won't get commission

    Hope that helps,
