hi there,

ive just signed up to commision junction (much better than click bank for my sites)

i have seen some really good adverts for my site, and have added already.

what i want to know is do people here use rotaters?

the banners i have on site are all on different pages, but because of the content, all of the banners would work on all pages.

could anyone recommend a free banner rotater that allows you to add html snippets instead of images?
#banner #rotaters
  • Banners are poor performers in general. Rotating ads is a fools game IMHO.

Testing and Tracking ads to see what works is the only reason I can see to "rotate". Once you know what works. Stick with it.

Depends what kind of banners you use. I've had good results.

You have two options. First, log into your CJ account and read up on smartZones. That feature will probably do the trick for you.

If it doesn't, for some reason, head on over to hotscripts.com and use the search box to look for banner rotators. Choose your site's language from the drop-down and read away. There will be many free ones, no doubt. You can also use the advanced search option to filter out paid products and see just the free ones.

This may be overkill for what you're looking for, but I use OpenX to manage all my ads, both banners and text links like Adsense.

It's a stand alone script. You set up the campaigns and zones and then ad the zone tags to your site.

Google also has an ad manager that you could use.

Well, if you're handy with php includes, I absolutely love this free rotator script! (You can rotate anything with it, btw)

(If you're using WP, you might be able to just put the php snippet into a widget in the sidebar (I've only ever used it on static sites with a php-include call), or hard-code it into the page template. PHP gurus: Please chime in, I'm outta my depth already! lol!)

Combine it with a cloak'n'track solution (BlueSquares sells one for, like, 10 bucks or something, I think: PHP Link Cloaker) and then just keep split-testing until you get a control that refuses to be beaten!

    Best of luck with it!

thanks for the help guys i have ended up using the cj smart zone solution, exactly what i needed.

      my question now is placement.

right now i have it so i have an adsense leaderboard banner across top of site under menu.

and i have added the smart zone below the content.

      should i switch them round?

or should i try both ways for say a month each and compare the results.

sorry forgot to mention, the site in question is the Hyosung-GTR link in sig.

        + this might be useful.

over the past seven days i have had approx 1200 page impressions through adsense, but only 2 clicks (totaling £0.96).

i know its only a short term compare, but to me that seems very low, can i conclude people on my site dont click google ads, and should i focus purley on cj banners?

(applied to amazon.com affiliates to put a astore on site, but got to wait until approved (already on amazon uk but got no decent hyosung products))

The best way to savour a good variety of banner rotators is to goog for them with "banner rotators". The choices will astound you. Then it's up to you to test the ones you prefer and then make your final choice.
