Hey everyone,

I'm not sure how to ask this but I will do my best. In your opinion, is using a blog for your niche market page better than standard html? Would it be better to have my opt in on a blog page connected to my sales page or thank you page instead of using just an html page?

I was going to create just an html squeeze page with an opt in form for a free product I have created in a different niche. But the more I read about what google is doing about wanting more content etc, I am wondering if I should put the opt in on a blog and then market my backend products through email marketing and my blog. Which would you do? Thanks for your insight in advance!

    You alright mate,
The way I do it is i direct people directly to a blog and from ther I get the opt ins, it's not exactly what you mean but in my sig (internet phone lines) is an example of what I'm talking about (it's not an opt in form, just a contact form) but you get the idea.

Most of my back end is sold by my list, in fact it all is, but that's just the way I choose to do it.

I hope this helps, I don't fully understand your problem but just thought I'd tell you how i do it.

    Sound mate!

You'll get search engine traffic from a blog with decent articles, which will be much more difficult to come by with a static page that does nothing but opt in.

Yeah I this is what I have been beginning to think too. I guess the old opt in squeeze page thing is kinda going out the window. So I figured I could build the content blog and link it to the free e book and even promote the backend product on there or just put a link on an email for my list.

Squeeze page is different from niche page.

Squeeze page should be off of very well designed and it can be in html but i would prefer my niche site should be off wordpress as it has lot of seo tools for which i can rank in SERPs.

I use wordpress for my sales page, and then have a blog built into it. If you aren't familiar with how to do this, just briefly, you set the reading settings to have a static front page, and then make a page that you designate for your posts, you can call it Blog. Then add your content as posts, and they will show up when you click on the blog page. You can have links at the bottom of your page for the blog.

I use artisteer to build my own themes and they are easy to modify to a single wide sales page template.

I have seen many different type of optins...a popular one would be a popover using aweber, offering a free chapter from your ebook. Then you wouldn't have to try and embed the optin code into your sales page.

Then you have the best of both worlds, you can use the wordpress blog platform with all the SEO plugins, plus you have the dynamic feature of a blog by adding blog posts. Your post pages will get indexed if you make sure to build backlinks using the anchor text to your post pages. Make sure your permalinks are set to %postname%

Hope this helps in your deciding whether or not to use html or wordpress. I love wordpress, and they always rank well.

That sounds like a really good idea! Thank you for your input. I am not too familiar with Word Press or blogging for that matter. I have some learning to do as I have been working with html instead.

You can create both, sqeeze pages and article filled niche sites with static html pages as well as with a blog.

So it's one thing to decide about the strategy WHAT to present to your visitor, but another thing HOW to create it technically.

The visitor in the end will not even recognize if you use static html or a blog.

I don't know about your knowledge, but for most people a blog is easier AFTER they have the template that suits their needs.

I do see some SEO advantages in cleverly created static sites, but the trend is very, very clearly going to using blogs and other CMSes.

I would highly recommend using Wordpress. It is not too difficult to learn the basics, and it provides much more opportunity for promotion.

That being said, I am planning to launch my upcoming ebook using a basic opt-in form... at least at first.

blog is easier to get traffic if compare with static page. May be that's the reason you should use blog instead.

Even though I have done well with both it seems like you can get a blog indexed faster with Google than an html site. I think you're on the right track having a blog with a link.

Wordpress.org has good documentation for beginners, how to post etc.

You can also google Wordpress Video, and you will find many free and good videos showing you step by step how to use wp.

    You could try ....

    1. Create a blog with good content myblog.com
    2. Add a squeeze page myblog.com/squeeze
    3. Send traffic to squeeze

    example: easydietingsectrets.com/tips

wordpress is known for its optimization. it is custom made with the SEO and if you start posting some good articles with the relevant tags then over a period of time you can rank quite well.

this is not the case with a static page. Therefore directing the customers from your blog is a reliable and more efficient method.
