God Mode - for Windows 7 (cool stuff)...

To enter "GodMode," one need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to exactly the following:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Once that is done, the folder's icon will change to resemble a control panel and will contain dozens of control options. I'm not sure it's my idea of playing God, but it is a handy way to get to all kinds of controls.

I just tried it, and it creates this control panel on steroids. Very cool.

    Do NOT put this folder directly on your desktop. I read about this the other day. If you put it on your desktop, it will make Windows go into an endless blue screen loop. Make sure you put the folder in something like C: or D: rather than on your desktop.

    BTW, supposedly it doesn't have to say GodMode. It can actually say anything if the other part is exactly right.

    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    InternetMarketinRocks.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    WantCash.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    Etc...

    This is amazing! I love playing God!

    Taylor, is placing a shortcut to this "GodMode" folder on your quick-launch bar also a risk?

    Thanks for sharing this tip!

      I don't know. I put mine directly in my C: and left it there. I haven't tried putting a shortcut to it anywhere.

      Well, good luck with it. Here's a post where some people were commenting that they had the crashes and blue screens:

      The Other 16 "GodModes" For Windows 7 - Tom's Hardware

      Seems like they were on the 64 bit version, so it may not happen on 32 bit.

    I also put mine on the desktop before reading the warnings... I have Windows 7, 64-bit with no issues to speak of so far.

    I don't have Win7 but am now insanely curious...what are these control options you speak of? Does Win7 not come with the basic control options one would find in XP?

        While I will agree that nothing works on Windows Vista, I did find an article that mentioned that this is rumored to be available for Vista. The article did mention problems if you're running the 64-bit version of Vista.

    When you say God Mode, my mind goes straight to video games. I don't have Windows 7, Still running Vista. How is Windows 7, any good.

    I just tried it on the 64-bit version of Vista.

    The icon appears then Explorer crashes and restarts. Now the icon is still there but if you double-click it, the Explorer crash/restart happens.

    I think I'll do without!

    Cheers,
