Top IM Guru's selling emails?

I have noticed something really weird.

Subscribed to someone's list using an email I created especially for them so all of their emails would go into one particular folder.

This "someone" is a reverred Internet Marketer. And all IM guru's just love pitching his products.

I did NOT use this email to subscribe to any other lists AT ALL.

Now, I am getting emails daily at this email id for Viagra, Enlargement and all that crap.

They don't even have an unsubscribe link.

Now, of course this person is sending me nice decent emails like he's supposed to every once in a while.

But I am confused... either the aWeber system has been breached really badly, or this man is doing something illegit.

Has something like this happened to you? What would you do?

If im not mistaken, there was talk about aweber compromise a few weeks ago. I dont know if it has any merit or not.

I would say do nothing. Who cares...it was a throw away email address anyway, right?

It's possible they may have sold their list which included your e-mail address, but not necessarily the case.

SPAM bots are really good at generating e-mail addresses. I've received spam on certain e-mail accounts in the past where nobody knew about them except for me.

In the week before Christmas, some data held within AWeber
    was accessed by spammers/hackers.

Here's a link to AWeber's admission as being the source together
    with their response:

How We’ve Addressed The Recent Data Compromise

Here's a link to an earlier Warrior Forum where we were able
to openly discuss the issue and help identify the unitentional source:

Agreed -- it sounds like the Aweber compromise. I too have a private email that was on one Aweber list, and the bugger is getting those crap Viagra and other ads in it now.

Question: How many folks who use Aweber have sent out a note to their list about the compromise? I ask because most people are going to assume a marketer sold their email. And most people (especially those not in IM) aren't going to read marketing forums or the Aweber blog, thus they have no idea what happened.

    Cheers,
    Becky

If you have a GMail account just do this:

    youremailaddress+nameofemaillist@gmail.com

Anything after the + sign is ignored, Google added it
to help organize your e-mail but I use it to see who
has given my e-mail address out.
