hey warriors I know we all have made our share of mistakes is this world of Internet Marketing. I know I have most definitely. So I wanted to start this post to reveal some costly mistakes we all have made. I will go first.
  • I was writting a set of press releases for my squeeze page. I was submitting 5 a day to different site for a whole week in order to gather around 700-1000 emails, But I bearly got a 100 I went back and checked my links and I had put the wrong website link on most of the releases!!! I was so mad with myself I just logged off the computer and left the house.

I've sent broadcast emails without checking them first. After all I know what I am doing right? There is no way I would make a dumb mistake. Well you know the outcome, I had to send one of those hated "Sorry... I goofed messages".

Forgot to add a budget for a test PPC campaign on adwords. Left it and forgot about it then came back to discover I had spent $400! Oops...

I sent some materials out with direct affiliate links (rather than redirecting them through my own domain first). When the affiliate program died, I had a bunch o' dead links floating around in who-knows-how-many-copies of ebooks.

I could have saved those sales if I used a redirect link, as then I could have redirected those links to a different product.

    Cheers,
    Becky

I could write a lengthy list, but I only discovered this particular mistake yesterday so this thread is a timely one

My main niche site, the one I've put lots of effort into since last August, was displaying perfectly in Firefox, but not in IE or Opera. I don't know how long it had been like that, but I never checked it. Basically, in IE and Opera, the banners of some CB products I'm promoting didn't show up, and the RSS feed icon was messed up.

My wife handles this side of things - coding, graphics, displays etc so she got to work on fixing it today. All she did was switch to another theme then switch back and all was well again  In future, I'll be checking my sites regularly using Check Browser Compatibility, Cross Platform Browser Test - Browsershots

According to the stats, IE and Opera users have accounted for 50-60% of our visitors, so I don't want to even think about how many potential sales and opt ins we've lost as a result. Onwards and upwards....it's the only way

Btw read some of your Blogspot, your experience with MLM, albeit a bad one, is very one sided and not not a proper representation of what the MLM industry is like.

Some of the more lucrative Business men that are known around the world as speakers and educators have branched out into IM and the MLM industry because of the opportunity involved.

Done right, this industry can provide passive income for time to come...

But people misinterpret it for being a pyramid scam which it is far from...

This isn't me flaming or whining, just trying to clear it up as it is one of my main focuses and I'm making good money from it.

I've apologized multiple times now - what more can I do? :p

Please don't think I consider myself completely qualified to give a balanced opinion on MLM - because I don't. All I am doing in that blog is being completely honest, the MLM opportunities I was part of didn't work for me because(as I state in the blog) my abilities weren't well matched to them. I certainly wasn't bashing it, just saying it wasn't for me

If you're happy in MLM, then good luck to you - IM is about finding what you're good at, and sticking at it

Haha, no worries! Was just clearing it up in case you were left with the idea that MLM did not work, period.

Glad you found what works with you now!

Fortunately the way I learnt to do MLM, included learning Attraction Marketing (Based on the Laws of Attraction) and using a duplicable system to brand yourself and your team and train them on the back-end so you have time to market some more without having to spend time training 'everyone'.

One thing they went over was the importance of having several affiliate products in the back end of the system, to profit from both the people who did not join your biz opp but rather wanted to promote theirs, and off those who did join you but also bought the products.

These products are necessary for success, they aren't the only ones of its kind, but if your going to join under someone people always feel inclined to use products you recommend and use. As when you train them it's also easier...

I'm guessing the whole ordering Autoships burned you out, and because you didn't have a system in place to profit to cover Autoships and advertisement costs it cost you more than it was worth

            Thanks, Jay.

My biggest mistake was on an ebook cover I was doing as a list intensive. The name of the book is 36 fat burning super foods. And I put supper foods and didn't realize. Not a very big mistake, but I am new. Give it time....

Spending time over the activities that did not help my business.
Giving more importance to site design than site conten
    Not building a list
Not keeping up to date with the concepts
Not maximizing the effort when using a method
    Not building relations
Not building a system that would work for me

    ......And the list goes on

Trying to make it and learn on my own is my biggest mistake. It took me two years to make my first dime online. 2 YEARS!!! Then, I found the warrior forum. I bought a couple of wso's and that really set me on my way. I have met some really great and talented people here that were gracious enough to give me some great pointers. Since, then I have come a long way!

Also, writing articles and mentioning the CPA product names in the articles. As I know now and most i.m.'ers already know, that is big NO NO! The CPA offers have such short shelf life that if you mention them in an article they could be pulled the next day. So, long story short is I have wasted a lot of time learning not to do that.

My biggest mistakes in IM would be delaying my list building efforts, trying to focus on three or more completely different methods at the same time and thinking I could pull it off quickly with school and other things in life without burning out. And making excuses for not scheduling a daily work routine and just being lazy at times and giving into that laziness.

Good point! I think at some point we have all given into the laziness. It can be hard to get into a schedule. I learned that setting a timer when I do my task helps a lot. Just get an old kitchen timer and set it for your task. Ex: Write an article - 60 minutes, submit the article to 5 directories, 10 minutes, etc... It really helps to get things done. Then, after every 2 hours take a 10 minute break. This way you get things done and you don't burn yourself out.
