Selling Leads, Can This Work?

Hey warriors

I had an idea to launch a website where I would collect leads who were interested in cosmetic surgery, then hopefully sell those leads to businesses in my area, I have found some low competition keywords that bring good amounts of traffic.

Is this a business model that any of you folks use?

How much money could you command for such a lead?

Do any of you folks have any ideas on how I could set up such a website?

You set up your site just like any other website that you want people to opt in.

A simple but effective landing page will do fine.

Remember not only can you broker the leads but you can also offer SEO work if they have their own website.

Keep in mind you have to be upfront with your leads but most will want exactly what you have to offer based on how you got them to opt in in the first place.

As far as price try to find out what a paid patient/customer is worth and sell the endgame..do not speak of it as a lead but as a full blown sale.

They understand that not all will buy but to gain a targeted lead is well worth paying for.
Thanks for the feedback, would you offer them a free report or somthing for giving you there info?

Also what information would you say I need to get from them ie address, phone number ,email etc or would a simple email and phone number be enough?

If this didn't pan out, but you achieved good rankings, you could also explore selling the site outright to a company for a bigger payday You could optimize and rank for local terms which would be very appealing to local businesses.

Yeah well I have done some research and should be able to get first position ranking for the keywords I intend to target, Selling the site would be a good option if it didn't quite work.

offerfusion is right.. you will have tough time selling lead direct.. i tried that when i started out.. i have no problem getting lead.. and i went straight to local business trying to sell lead.. the problem is most of business simply do not trust lead from someone that has not been proven. they do not even want to deal with you... so find a network.. i bet there will be plenty in your niche... and sign up with them..

if the surgery costs around $2000 and you lead is solid i would say you can sell for $30 without a problem.. most of time.. it will be a bidding process.. market will decide ...

I can say yes it can and will work but in my opinion it's not the most honorable way of doing things...I suppose plenty of people want to know about something and plenty of people are promoting something but the way I see it is that these people opt-in to YOUR site or newsletter or whatever they are not signing up for whatever someone else would be using their info for.
