Case Study: "Operation Troll Picker" (Thanks, Allen -- it works really FAST!)

One of my threads just got spammed by a troll. This is a case study of what happened (it's very short):

Case study of Warrior Forum anti-trolling system:

I was online working on my thread, hit the 'preview' button and saw that a troll-spam post has just been 'deposited' on my thread - one of those one-liners about the price being too high.

So I hit the "report post" button (that little red and white triangle in the bottom left corner of the post) and typed:
"troll is spamming my thread - I don't know this troll and have never worked with 'it' - please remove".
And within 30 seconds, the troll spam was gone!

Results of case study:
The combination of reporting the troll post and the incredibly fast response by the support team blasted the spam in less than 30 seconds! Now THAT'S FAST!

Conclusions:
Report the dirty basta*ds as soon as you find 'em. We don't need to start complaint threads about the troll problem anymore. Allen has armed us all with weapons and ammo...so go get those trolls!

FYI - I called it "operation troll picker" because the trolls remind me of the nasty ticks that harassed my dog last summer. Thank god, he doesn't get them often. But when you find a tick, you have to pick it off right away, or it will spawn and multiply and make the poor dog really sick.

The point is, you can't just ignore them and hope they'll go away. They won't. In the worst case scenario, they'll take over and kill the dog.

That's how I see the troll problem on the internet. Now that's it's been unleashed, it will never completely go away. So it's important to know they exist AND to get rid of them as fast as you find them.

It's really not okay to just ignore trolls on a thread. If left alone, they really can 'kill the dog'.

      Thanks, Tina! I know it took me a while to figure out the difference between "infraction" and "report post" when we first got them. But now that I know:
      Report post = little red triangle = FAST support response = dead troll
      I'm ready to take 'em on!

        Those who have not purchased a product have no say in if it is over priced, etc.

        If you buy the service and have issues - that is another issue.

        She purchased that ad space. It is not an open forum for people to bitch who have no idea what they are talking about.

          Heads up, Allegro! The Warrior Forum is privately owned, and we each have whatever rights to speech that Allen, the owner, bestows on us. If you enjoy hanging out here, you should familiarize yourself with them.

        Take a gander at the WSO Forum TOS ... it is against the TOS to post negative comments if you have not purchased the product. Who really gives a rats a** if a troll thinks a product is too expensive? We pay for those WSOs and don't have to tolerate WSO bashers whose only purpose is to devalue the thread, without a shred of real knowledge of the product.

          For the record, Audre did not silence anyone. All the report button does is bring the post(er) to the attention of the mods. They are the one who makes the decision on whether the troll lives or dies. Apparently, they disagreed with your point of view.
