Why don't we stop buying all the b.s. and focus on our goals!

While you are doing your projects, try to keep one window open and close all the windows regarding any IM info. Just open your notepad with the set of written goals, work as if it is your 8 hour J.O.B. then at the end of the day get out of your computer, relax and call it a day. If there is something that we lack I guess mental focus is one of them. Just wanted to let it out after reading too many non sense information around the net hehe =)

Gian you are so right, it is so easy to lose focus, keep reading more information and at the end of the day you find that you haven't achieved anything.

It is important to be focused and complete your goals if you really want to be successful.

One more thing, Stick on one method and one method alone, whether it is SEO, PPC or PPV. Just focus on one then if you get to know the basics and start earning from that method diversify and learn more traffic building methods. Hope all newbies won't get into the trap of trying all the traffic building methods then get stuck then jump into another one. Stick to what best suits your lifestyle and what makes you money. Hope everyone should learn from this.

I'll take this a step further, try and find a complete system if you can. Work the system from start to finish. If you get stuck ask the seller of the system for help, or if that isn't possible, ask in the forum. Don't throw the system away if you get stuck. Work through.

Also make sure the system is from someone who has proven themselves and actually uses the system to make money. They walk the walk don't just talk the talk.

    • I agree. Stick to one or two methods, make those work for you. Then over time you can learn more. I set a daily plan for what I want to do. Those come first. If I have time at some point to browse and look at other things if I have time. But keeping on track with daily tasks that generate business is key.

I guess the real question is: If you are a newbie with little capital what system should you focus on and stick with? I say PPV and content network. What do others say?

well, if you have very little capital.. I say start with article marketing and seo. Since they all require very little capital as long as you do all the work. =)

I'm working towards a specific target this month and have a pretty detailed plan, so when I'm 'at work' I'm trying my best not to get distracted. I have also promised myself I won't be tempted by any WSO's or list E-Mails promoting new products. The only things I am buying this month are an upgraded membership to a PLR site and some productivity software. I have all the strategies laid out of what I am doing, and nothing is going to get in the way So yeah, great advice in the OP

Good Luck with your plan Liam! Just wanted to start the thread for all of us who gets distracted easily... =) any plr sites that you recommend?

I think we all are guilty of losing focus every now and again. I use a system to try and keep me on track which works as long as I use it!

I have binders that I bought from a stationery store which is a "Things to do today". Each page has the heading "Things to do today" And there are 3 columns that I use:

        Priority, List and Completed.

So for example I would list my tasks for the day after a little bit of thought regarding what I would like to get done and what NEEDS to be done. So a typical list would be:

Listen to Tony Robbins Get the edge
        Tidy Office
        File paperwork
        Work on my blogging guide
        Post to blogs
        Post to lead generation sources
Configure tweet adder for new followers

        I then prioritise this list into A's B's and C's then further into A1, A2 A3 etc.

I give most priority to the tasks that are the most urgent then do A1 first and so on. This way the tasks that have to be done get done and the others move up the list.

A very important step is to tick off the things you do once they are complete.

It's not my method but one I learned from Steven Covey.

Also this year I made one resolution - to succeed in my online business.

I use another method to keep focus that I read from Dr Mani on here:

Passion, Purpose, Persistence, Set Goals, Make a plan, Believe it will work, Work the plan, Acheive goals, Repeat

Its day 11 of 2010 and I have stuck to it so far and acheived more than I did in the whole of last year!

One last thing, I used to chop and change from one system to another but over xmas decided to follow just one system. I used Kevin Riley's Rocket Product Creation and now have a sales system and a product. This was achieved in 7 days. I am now working on my next product which will be finished in the next 10 days.

Don't give up anyone just stick to one thing and do it well.
        Nice Advice pearlydean!

I guess I'm different in this respect then as I prefer to work in a more flexible way that allows me to capitalise on how I feel.

I go to the gym in the morning and then depending on how I feel, I'll then decide what to do - either sit in a coffee shop and work on my book, go back home and work on a product, or go for a walk - depends how I feel.

This doesn't mean I never do any work, just that when I do it I'm completely in to it and not having to force myself.

I think of it like dieting - if you're forcing it then you got it wrong, when you get the right routine, you can work much more effectively and don't have to focus on 'putting in the hours' or treating it like a normal job (that's the last thing I want).

But for many people I'm sure your advice is good and applies.

    Andy

I have taught productivity in the past and one thing I would say to anyone using a system is - remember to differentiate between 'important' and 'urgent', or you can spend a lot of time on unimportant urgent things.

I sometimes work like what you are doing too. But then what I am really pointing out is once you get to work, stop opening any more windows to avoid distractions and just focus on your work. I always get trapped on getting to look at the warrior forums to see the latest news haha! But you have a point on not forcing yourself to do things. It actually allows you to be sane and to work more productively.

hhmm - we all have the same amount of time and it's up to us how we use it.

Maybe when I was cleaning toilets in the military that wasn't the case, but it has been for the last 11 years since I left...

All the while, you're on WarriorForum replying to threads

It's good advice though, I track earnings through an online accounting program, and I can see, at a glance that my earnings (and work rate) pick up when I close skype, and browser windows, turn off the TV and work like a demon.

Another tip: Treat each project (individually of course) like it needed to be done yesterday. You'll be amazed how much you can get done in a day - I've had days where I've got what I thought would be a week's work done in a 24 hour period. It's all about perception and urgency.

Theres a lot of good advice coming here.

I like the idea of only checking your email once a day, unless you are waiting for a pacific thing.

im always logging in to see if there is any new messages, it is very distracting.

Also sticking to one thing and one thing only from start through to completion, and if you get any offers in the mean time unsubscribe from there list so your not sidetracked.

And set aside a time of day for visiting forums, as before you know it, half a day has gone by and nothing done.

Great post! What I found useful is when you make a list (in my case for a product I launched), I made a list of stuff I HAD to do in order to launch the product, and then a list of NICE TO HAVE stuff which in fact could be done later.

This does two things, firstly, it means the list is less daunting and takes less time to do, and secondly, once you see money coming in, you have a new found energy to get the rest of the stuff done.

      Totally agree Gian!

As a matter of fact, whenever I need super focus, I usually will switch off my computer and use the old way (pen & paper)

If I really need the computer, I'll switch off the internet.

If not I'll be doing what I'm doing now "join in conversations while studying more"

While trying to learn all that I could I would sign up to every list that I could. I found that while this was very educational it was also very distracting. I opted out of about 90% of them and then I was able to get focused.
Instead of not knowing what direction to go I now have one project that I am working as well as two others that are on the back burner waiting.
