      Heath,

      Am I missing something here?

You seem to keep starting threads for no purpose.

You're promoting your marketing strategy ebook in your sig file and you start a thread called marketing strategy with 2 lines of post.

      Are you for real?

If someone told you to post a bunch of useless stuff to get your post count up - ignore them, it only gets you in peoples black books.

Do yourself a favour and pay attention to where the real value in this forum lays - it's not in pushing stuff in your sig file or even in running WSOs.

      nothing to see here.

G'day Andy. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I'm definitely here for the long haul. To find answers, to encourage discussion, and to help out wherever I can. My passion is finding the fundamentals of marketing. I like posts where people can get involved and contribute their opinions.

Well, I don't know about the shameless self-promoting thing or not, but the theory is sound.

              I like to say,

              1) Find a need

              2) Fill it

Well I'd like to proclaim that I got it down to just one step:

                1. Advertise

I have to agree with the others here. It's easy to say "find a hungry market" and "feed 'em". But remember that there are many ways to do this. To the newbies who are reading this, you might as well have written this post in Swahili (sp?). What does it mean to "find a hungry market"? How does one go about doing that? What is a "hungry market", anyway?

Once you have found a hungry market, how do you go about "feeding them"? What steps must you take to do this? How do you get your product in front of said market? Jeff also had a good point: is this "market" willing as well as able to pay for your product?

What about competitors? How do you deal with them? Do you try to outdo them, or do you use your competition to your advantage? Do you team up with any of them?

"Find a hungry market" and "Feed 'em" is a platitude that newbies can't do anything with. If you want to add value to this forum, design your posts so that newbies and established marketers alike can get something from them.

Yes, Angela. This is true to some extent.

At the same time, however, take this example.

At this exact moment, I'm sitting on the deck of a lovely beach house in Fenwick Island where we're staying with my wife's family for the week.

Just yesterday, I went over to the local bike shop around 5:30pm to try and rent a bike for the week. Turns out the place closed at 5pm.

As I was standing there, several cycling enthusiasts came walking up to the door, looking to buy things, rent a bike, etc. At least 3 people said to their significant others, "It's closed? Oh man!"

Now, an entrepeneur would say to themselves, "Hey! I could open up a bike shop here and make a killing just keeping it open until 9pm!"

Now, granted, I don't know anything about running a bike shop, managing inventory, what software I would use to track my sales, etc. But I DO know that there is a need.

I bet I could fill it and make some serious money.

Guys please. This is not a plan, or a strategy, I'm not trying to trick anyone, I love Online Marketing Strategy, I am youthful, inexperienced and exuberant, and I'm sorry if I offended you. If at least 2 people are upset at me, I must be doing something wrong - so I promise to try not to make posts that seem like small talk.

          When I posted:

          "1. Find a hungry market
          2. Feed them

          Anything I'm missing?"

I already knew that there are things missing from these 2 points, but I like to encourage discussion and get as many people's opinions as possible. It's just that I see posts with one specific direction (like this one), as a great way to summarize some of the core fundamentals which we often have to trudge through thousands of words and read between the lines before we truly understand. The more people that give their opinion, the larger the picture - we've all got something to share.
