hey guys, whats the deal with craigslist?

i know they've been changing things up and it seems more difficult than a few years back. I heard a lot of the software isn't working anymore?

I'd like to test it out for some products we're selling that I THINK, will work well on CL.

Anyone have any tips? suggestions?

  • The "Deal" is they have taken very aggressive measures to slow down the influx of spam.

Craigs TOS has always said that they do NOT allow Affiliate links. But clever affiliates just keep trying to hammer away.

And it's now to the point where there is little point in it, which is a good thing. The harder they make it on spammers the better. Spamming Craigslist is NOT marketing. I like Craigslist. I advertise real things I'm selling without problems. The less spam the more a REAL classifieds site it becomes and people who do not appreciate the fact that REAL listings are free and choose to continue to spam can rot in he** I'm glad they are making it harder to spam.

Look at Airport Security. A handful of people have created a real mess for people who really just want to travel.

The same for Craigs a handful of spammers have made it very difficult for real people just trying to sell their used items a pain in the butt.

One of my specialties here recently has been Craigslist, and let me tell you, if you think things have become more difficult, you have not seen anything yet. They have some changes in the pipeline that are going to crack down even further. I have legitimate national companies who want to advertise legitimate products and services in multiple areas, etc. on Craigslist and can't due to the new rules.

    thanks guys....

so what do you suggest if you're sellin' your *own* stuff?

I still see the 'ewhoring' thing everywhere in the personals. You could do something similar but promote a dating site, no?

Craigslist is cracking down hard on the software manufacturers first and foremost who pump out automation software or any software that actively violates their terms of service.
