Almost 4 articles in 1 hour!!! Hell Yeah.

Well actually that is kind of depressing.

I have been trying to speed up on my article writing for my marketing, it always seems that it takes forever.

So I stubled on to TypingTest.com - Free Typing Test & Typing Games Online

I gave it my best shot and if I had to do absolutely no research I could knock out 4 articles in 1hour.

But since everything needs at least a little research I am only getting out 1-2.

I was using dragon naturally speaking for a bit but I need to reinstall it.

So take the test and let me know what your wpm is.

My # of articles is based on 33 wpm and articles of 500 words.

I want to see your results.

Talk to ya later,

Torrance

  • Marketing is not about Speed. Write 20 and hour or 1 an hour it makes no difference.

    ROI is what matters.

But I am always amused by what makes people feel successful.

I understand that speed isn't the thing that is the most important.
But since article marketing is a numbers game and even if your keyword research is top notch you will get a much larger return on time invested if you had more articles out there to drive traffic.

I plan on squeezing all of the money I can out of all of these articles just like the rest.

But the main thing this thread was for was to see how fast others type as well.

My keyword research is down pat.
My article structure is down pat.
      Article re-writing is down pat.

I just can't type faster yet.

      thanks for every ones replies.

I agree. One great article will out perform 4 crummy ones. not saying you would put out poor quality stuff but in my opinion quality and quantity is the ideal. If I had to chose one over the other I would side with quality. Good job on increasing your productivity though.

Quality always beats quantity in all areas of life. 1-2 quality articles an hour is fine I reckon. Seems to work for me anyway.

I think most of the replies are from people just skimming the thread.

          Bummer.

I posted this thread because I am really curious as to how fast others are typing as well.

Avenuegirl had a good point that I use for my market testings. Use different article styles to see which one gets the better response then knock out more like it, a great way to increase ROI.

Asher- 70 wpm is what I will shoot for I usually have the words I want to put down ready in my head but... my fingers don't transfer them as fast as I can think them. 70 wpm would double my outpu.

Now I keep reading comments on quality and I understand the thought but you have to ask.

What kind of person would try and push out tons of crappy articles. Most of the stuff I need to write about I already know the information and just need to type it. Quality isn't the issue but typing speed is.

Take the test see how fast you can type and try to improve your speed too.

Ohh yeah has anyone gotten any of zeus66's wso's?

Thanks for reading and being active.

Actually, I really just rely on muscle memory.

Once you get it down, you can improve it...
all it takes is just practice.

Here's an exercise I did years back which proved
            effective to this day...

I took my seat in front of my computer.

Took out a book, an article, newspaper, whatever.
Select something and type it out without looking
            at the screen.

When finished, look at how well/poorly you've
            done.

This gives you a clue whether your finger muscles
are familiar with the keyboard at all or if you are
very reliant on using your eyes to guide your fingers.

Begin training yourself by typing without looking
at the keyboard for your articles.

After you've trained yourself to type without
            looking at the keyboard...

Do the exercise again, except, this time... do it
with your eyes closed. And type out an article.

            I do this regularly.

And it helps with productivity as you are NOT
            editing yourself prematurely. You're completing
the work and THEN editing it.

I've proven, in front of people, how to type out
a 300-400 word article in less than 7 minutes.

Albeit it's a topic I know of and am familiar with,
I can still do it because I've practiced with it.

I drifted off a bit but yeah, that's how I do it.

            Hope it helps.

Before I busted my left wrist and hand, I could type 100 wpm. Since then, it's dropped to around 80 because of a gimpy pinky finger. Recently, I began using Dragon which helps a lot if I'm holding a book that I'm referencing. Despite having this excellent dictation software, my article production still takes about 20 minutes each (much to my surprise).

I've discovered that the speed at which I write has little to do with my typing speed, but rather, about how quickly my mind can formulate sentences.

Being a perfectionist doesn't help. It takes more time to put together the right phrasing than it does to actually type it. If it's something with which I'm very familiar, I might be able to reduce that to about 18 minutes or on a really good day and with an easy topic, 15 minutes, but that's about it.

So it comes down to how quickly you can think, because your fingers aren't going to do anything until your mind is in motion and working in top form.

You might have to get the mic recognized by Windows first?
I'm guessing you've gone through the basic setup in Dragon for the mic?
If you're still having probs, Dragon Support is great if you haven't had the program long. Seems to me they charge for support after 3 months or something.

    Hey Mate,

I wouldn't stress too much, as long as you are happy with the quality of the articles.

I've tried, often in the same niche, a quality approach where I spend more time on the article and a quantity approach where I churn out less valuable articles in a shorter amount of time.

Every time the quality articles are those that get me better qualified traffic.

Ah, but the more you can crank out in a shorter time and test - the faster you will hone in in what works best for you and what style converts the best.

Anyway, I'm approaching warp speeds myself finally. Took about 4 different WSO's on article marketing, and Article Architect combined with Macspeech Dictate.

Views and click through rates steadily increasing so it's definitely a step in the right direction.

I am backed up with a ton of articles in review mode so it should be exciting to see what happens when the flood gates open.

TyperA - test your typing skills

Actually, your typing speed does not
    determine your article creation speed.

Like you stated, you'll need to do
    research. I don't type out 500 word
articles these days, I generally pump
    out 300-400+ word articles.

I find that it's more than enough given
that I have a few points I want to
    elaborate on, sometimes.

I read somewhere that for every hour of solid touch-typing practice you put in, your typing speed should increase 1 word per minute. That is one hour of actual typing. Of course, as you reach your maximum physical speed, and the law of diminishing returns kicks in, this won't have as much of an effect.

Getting 1 or 2 well researched, well written articles per hour is doing pretty good. The biggest change you're going to find is when you know a niche really well.

If you're involved heavily in a niche you enjoy, you can knock out good quality articles with almost zero research, because you're doing research endlessly and enjoyably.

Even if you could type an article every 15 minutes, by the time your re-read, edit, get it saved away, you're going to be doing good to finish 3 per hour.

If typing is killing you, and you are good at talking, just record your articles and hire a cheap transcriber.
