Is it possible to make a PayPal test purchase?

I would like to test my product with redirection pages etc, but am unsure if it is possible on PayPal.

Clickbank have a test purchase facility which I also use, but need to test now on PayPal also.

I believe its called the Paypal sandbox.

It's a developer tool so I can't really help you out besides for that. My programmer does all the nitty gritty stuff for me

      The Difficulties

The Paypal sandbox would work but, like Nathan Alexander mentioned, it can be overly complicated.

Also, I have seen some stores that forgot to turn off the sandbox! Talk about damaging sales!

      My Favorite Option

Probably just using a second email address and then refunding the purchase is the most realistic and quickest way.

The sandbox is great, but it can be confusing (for me) with all the accounts I have to create...Make sure you write it all down because they give you some long emails and logins and stuff.

(Although maybe Istvan's idea is the best, but don't get caught )

The Paypal sandbox is a hot mess....you're better off just having a friend make a purchase and then refund them.

The "ask a friend" method sometimes works... but more often it doesn't because only the friend can see what is happening, and if they are not IM types they cannot even tell you what and when/where went wrong. Which means you still didn't see the whole process with your own eyes.

Using the friend's (pp) email and seeing how the redirects and everything work - it might be a better option.

Although sometimes is difficult to find such friends.

I remember someone on the forum said you could make a purchase for a penny. If so just set and reset the price. Have someone from the forum purchase for you and have them give you feedback.

You can simply make a purchase of your own product and test it that way. Of course you would have to use a different PayPal account to pay with.

@Troy, I heartily recommend you test with the real thing and set the price as a variable in your PHP script. Make it $1 and go at it from every angle-PayPal account, no PayPal account, unfunded PayPal account, etc. You do NOT want to lose sales to buyers while you're asleep sometime. It's worth the "extra" effort and a minor expense of about $.60 per transaction. (In quotes because if you catch bugs, it wasn't extra effort.)

Good advise. I have tested in the past by setting the price to $.25

The fees might bring it up to about $.60, I can't remember though.
