A Niche You Would Never Think Of...

I was looking at possible niches and this
came up as one of them in my results...

"Stop Alien Abductions" I had a chuckle and
decided to see if anyone had monetized on
this idea. What I found is possibly the
funnyest SERIOUS "how to" manuals I have
ever seen.

Take a peek at:Stop Alien Abductions

Thought I would share

P.S. This guy should be selling this as an eBook

Actually this is an excellent example of a "niche".

    Consider...

Nearly 2 million people in the US claim to have been abducted by aliens.

About 50% of the US population say they believe in UFOs.

People who believe they have been abducted or are concerned that they
might be, are probably pretty passionate about the subject.

There must be several dedicated websites and forums catering to such concerns, which means that potential customers are easy to reach.

    Hmm.. it's tempting.

There are millions of people around the world interested in this subject. My feeling is that if we can be here (on earth), they can be there (wherever 'there' is ).

This looks like one of those wonderful niches that isn't saturated.

Oh, and btw, I haven't been abducted. Yet.

That's always the funny thing... 2 million Americans abducted by aliens???

I think these aliens are pro-Americans and anti-Iraq. Or they hold an American passport.

Really? Where did that number come from?

I don't think I know anyone who believes in these abductions, let alone say it happened to them.

If there are really 2 million of them, that is about 1 person out of every 150 in the country, which sounds astoundingly high.

Wouldn't there be a lot more coverage of it if there were that many?

Makes sense - the ultimate litmus test is if the topic has repeatedly been featured on Larry King or Oprah - if they have (and alien abductions has been on King a few times recently), then you can bet there is a market.

        Hi Chris

It's scary - I might have been a bit conservative with that figure.

I was quoting from "A Short History Of Modern Delusions" by Francis Wheen (2004 HarperCollins) in which he references a 1998 publication by the Cornell University Press "Aliens In America" by Professor Jodi Dean and various polls (including one taken by Newsweek) in the 1990s which indicated that up to 2% of the US population claimed personal abduction experience.

Of course, that was when the X-Files was on national TV...

There's a fair bit of coverage via the internet. And there are forums, heaps of them.

I personally believe in abductions. I'm convinced it can happen. Why not?

From the info I've read, it appears the US government has slapped a 'secrecy' clause of most stuff concerning alien sightings etc.

But do a search, there's heaps of info out there.

            Yeah sure, why not?

Honestly, it's a matter of opinion. Just because I believe doesn't make it true, just like that fact you don't believe it doesn't make it untrue.

We all have to live with each other's opinion, and whether we like it or not, we need to respect that.

Besides, it looks like there could be money in them there aliens.

You seem to be completely missing my point.

I'm quite positive that I haven't been abducted by aliens. I did not state an opinion on whether other people have been.

What I did was express surprise that 2 million people think they personally have been abducted.

Can you not see the difference between believing that some people have been abducted and believing that you have been?

I wouldn't be surprised if 2 million people believed that abductions were happening, a completely different thing.

You don't even seem to know if you believe you were abducted, based on all your smilies.

It's not funny...being on the alien abduction hit list is incredibly awful. For years I was abducted every night by a "China" look alike alien.

She/it did the most awful things to me every night...that is, until I got my alien repellant cod piece and magnetic repellant glove.

Now I have no fear of going to sleep at night and can rest easy and not worry about waking tired, worn and blistered.

Get it now while supplies last and end your alien abuser torment forever.

For those of you who have interest in this niche, I'd suggest you check out the story of Travis Walton. He's the guy the movie "Fire in the Sky" was based on. If you saw the movie, the time Travis supposedly spent on the UFO was nothing like what he claimed. The studio executives made the screen writer drastically exaggerate what happened.

He is by far the best known case of alien abduction. Him and everyone involved (his friends witnessed it) passed polygraph tests.

Travis Walton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you're interested in this niche that article will give you a lot of material to start with.

As much fun as we are all having with this, it is a market I have thought about strongly. I am fairly confident that the market for this stuff is much larger than two million.

Anybody hear of Coast to Coast AM radio show? It has an overnight audience in the millions. I seem to remember hearing claims from the host of 12 million listeners.....not sure how to confirm that sort of thing though. At any rate that show is full of stuff like this.

There is simply not one single, solitary shred of tangible evidence of any alien being having visited the Earth (despite apparently millions of claims of sightings and abductions). With all those aliens running around our atmosphere, there ought to be plenty.

All that exists is eyewitness accounts, and as we ALL know, eyewitness accounts are the LEAST reliable form of evidence.

Nope, but thanks for posting, now I've read up on the "project". Quite a collection of eccentrics. And the founder, Steven M. Greer, appears to be either a real kook or a serious money hustler. I found this bit quite entertaining and revealing:

"In addition to the Disclosure Project, Dr. Greer hosts 'Ambassador to the Universe' week long training sessions at various locations around the United States as part of the Greer founded CSETI organization. Using meditation techniques Greer claims to teach methods that allow attendees to "remote view" locations and times (past and present) develop "cosmic consciousness" and supernatural abilities such as precognition. Also, Greer claims to teach these trainees to "vector in" (i.e. an invitation to manifest their presence, using their newly acquired psychic abilities) extraterrestrials and their "space craft". Costs for this "training" presently being $995 for those that have not read Dr Greer's books or bought his videos.

Attendance requires certain student preparation, including buying and reading Dr Greer's Books. Perhaps surprisingly from the instigator of the Disclosure Project all participants are required to sign a non disclosure/confidentiality agreement As yet CSETI or Dr Greer has been unable to provide any evidence - either photographic or filmed - to support the success of this program."

Yes, there are definitely enough eccentrics out there to fuel marketing to that niche.

    Don:

Good post. I've listened to Coast to Coast AM and it is absolutely HILARIOUS. And the host is outstanding. He talks to his guests in a completely professional way, and treats them as though they are totally sane.

On one show, he had a female guest who reported (as if it were a fact) about a race of beings that live on the moon and have been controlling events on earth through mind control and thought transfer. In addition, these beings are organizing animals on earth to somehow take control of our human society.

She claimed that hundreds of reputable scientists and many universities are aware of this and have studied it extensively, though she declined to name any person or institution directly.

He asked her all sorts of serious questions, as though he were interviewing a political expert about the upcoming US Presidential election. I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face.

You've just thrown the baby out with the bathwater.

If you wanted to discredit something and people were starting to blab would you not encourage an 'eccentric' to lead them? Many people would focus on him, rather than the people who were involved, especially the military personnel, who were prepared to testify before Congress. They then get ignored, and problem goes away.

And that is what happens. It's called "misdirection" and NLP makes great use of it. Never fails.

There are enormous numbers of people interested in this niche, just like the whole "Self Help" area, and probably nearly as profitable.

I guess, if we presume that there is actually a "problem". All fairytales as far as I'm concerned. Like I said, eyewitness testimony is the least reliable form of evidence there is. I'd like to see someone produce an actual shred of real, tangible evidence. So far, it hasn't been done.

Back on topic: indeed. I think the alien abduction folks are a bunch of kooks, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't market to them. Heck, there are still people who believe the earth is flat. There's another niche that would be worth looking at!

Your government spent $20 millions dollars on the same sort of research you mock Dr Green for. They had to give it up because taxpayers were getting to hear and were outraged that their taxes were being spent on kooky stuff. Here's an old article from the NY Times:

PENTAGON IS SAID TO FOCUS ON ESP FOR WARTIME USE - New York Times

The niche has always been ready to market to - ever since the Soviets started their PSI experiments, and Whitley Strieber came out with his books. Most marketers have missed the niche merely because it never occurred to them there were more than a few kooks in it, so couldn't be profitable.

There's an opportunity coming up around November - a movie based on Bruce L. Cathies work on UFOs is due out. He was a pilot who plotted their flight paths and came up with a whole new geometry based maths and discovered the "World Energy Grid" and free energy. The movie is called AntiGravity and if it proves popular it should be quite profitable for savvy marketers to make money on it's coat tails.

But you're right, a lot of money is spent on kooky, nonsense like this. Some people believe in perpetual motion machines and other foolishness as well, and you're dead on that they're ripe to be marketed to.

No doubt there are lots of kooks in it, not just a few.

From what I've been able to gather, this film is still in PRE-production, so a long way from release. Chatter is that even when it is released, it will be a straight-to-DVD affair.

          But who knows?

For an internet marketer I believe the numbers of individuals who claim to be abducted to not match up with those searching online for a solution.

Just the keyword "Alien Abductions" receives only 355 searches a day and I believe the quality of traffic would be rotten!

However this would be a fun side project and I would be willing to provide free web and product design to anyone interested in perusing this niche lol

Derek I don't know how long you've been a member of the Warrior Forum, but Allen Says the original founder of this forum once created a product related to the "Secrets of UFO's". If I'm not mistaken it was one of the first ebooks he created. This was around 10 years ago. Just passing along some WF history.
