Does parking domain names work?

What I mean is, can it really bring in the pennies in a big way?

At the end of the month I hope to be able to finally get up and running, maybe with a domain or two, I probably won't be able to get hosted right away so just want to know if simply parking my site will really be worthwhile if I can get a good type-in address?

it depends upon the niche and the keywords on domain names. I tried various and didn't paid well. so i sold some of them and developed sites on some of them

Developing a domain is almost always better than parking it. But if you have many domains, it's good to park them until you get to using them. Some of my parked domains generate several dollars each click, others pennies. It all depends on whether you're getting type-in traffic, and have higher paying keywords in the domain.

Not at all in my experience.

Better to put simple content.... even one page...

    then put Adsense.

Ideally, put enough on for a PLR or clickbank product....and Adsense.

Also, you can turn them into a simple wordpress page if creating a site is not your forte.

Finally, if you have a few bucks....go to scriptlance and outsource the development of the sites. Should get a decent basic site for about $40-$60

Yes, parking domains can be very lucrative. It's a numbers game though and you need to have a strategy for identifying and buying the right domains. While we also develop sites around some of our domain names (rather than park them), the fact is that parking can generate a higher ROI than developing sites. It depends on the domain name in question as well as a number of other factors. Here's a link to a free report we offer on domaining if you're interested: Expired Domain Names - Free Tips
