How many projects do you have on the go?

I was just thinking (while reading some interesting comments from a few people)... when you run your business -- how many projects do you have on the go? And what do you find more effective... managing/developing a single product with laser sharp focus, or developing several at the same time? (If you do multiple, do you do it all yourself, and if so, how do you handle it/make sure they get done?)

I always have just one, multi-tasking is good for cooking, not good for business. This is why I have a team.

I guess it helps that we are an established, real "offline" business with plenty of experience managing multiple large projects. We've got a dedicated staff of employees that contribute to tasks like project management, client contact, sales/marketing, coding/programming, SEO, graphic design, etc.

At any one time we've got about 10 projects at hand, all while managing our web properties (around 20) and outsourcing all that we can.

While it's seemingly better to focus on single projects, we simply couldn't keep the doors open if we didn't bring in bigger volumes of work. However, we also couldn't keep the doors open if we didn't achieve measurable results from our clients, and turn those results into referrals and bigger opportunities. Some of our largest project costs come from the administration/testing/followup end of the process, but it's what provides us with the biggest push of momentum.

This is my MAIN problem, I'm always working
on about 4 projects at the same time. I just
float from one to the other throughout the
day and just know that it's not productive. If
one project isn't simple I move to another one
and the previous one gets left for a few days!

I have four main business projects that are ticking along nicely and each of them has at least 4 items on the to-do-list at the same time.

Personally, i think if you don't have at least 16 things that you could be doing to improve your business, then you are not thinking hard enough.

I'd love to hear from the 2 people so far who have 16
projects going on at the same time.

I'm curious if they consider a single website a project...
such as running 16 or even 138 AdSense blogs, or they
REALLY have 16 different projects going.

If they really have 16 different projects going, I'd
imagine they have quite a staff going...

... Or a never-ending supply of RedBull and white
    powder.

Lessee, I have enough projects going that when I hit a brick wall with one, I can safely move onto another and not lose that inviting sense of "HOLY HELL I'M WORKING!!" and keep on truckin'.

I think right now I have around 5 projects on the burner. It keeps me busy on my day to day stuff and eventually I'll have all 5 things running without too much difficulty. The hard part is getting them all up and going.

Other than that, I'm always looking for a project to add, just to make sure my ADD doesn't leave me doing nothing.
