Ok 1 question and then HECK I'm gonna just do it!

Hi guys a bit of progress since my last depressing thread...

Since then I've had the pleasure of watching StevenR's simple blog video series and actually learnt a lot from them and it really explained how to do proper keyword researching, something which I got stuck on in the past.

The good news is today I have found a niche! I don't know anything about the niche, but I do know its highly competitive, there is a market here and have found several keyword phrases with lowish competition.

And lots of google results contain internal pages which is good according to Steven, (it should be relatively easy to rank decent for the key phrases)

In the past I have been searching and thinking (basically wasting time) trying to come up with 1 amazing website idea, and we all know how hard that is. Not anymore though! I never wanted to own more than one site, I wanted to have my own "baby" making me tens of thousands a year..lol yeah I know it's quite doesnt work that way for most people.

I'm going to crank as many sites/blogs as I can, of course making one at a time though...its time to make some $$$

Anyway the only issue I have right now and its mainly a mindset one, with this new niche of mine that I want to start, I don't personally have the products to sell, so I would have to rely on being a Amazon affiliate, no problem so far right?

The issue is, in the past I have stayed away from being an affiliate, I just cant see people purchasing stuff from an amazon affiliate site (though some little known blog/website).

I know personally I'd just go visit the amazon site directly, it just feels "safer" to me.

I need some motivation guys! do people REALLY buy Amazon products through affiliate websites?

Any tips, advice or results from your own experiences would be great.

Thanks everyone

I personally do not buy through links I see in ads, but I do however have a small niche site that has been a project that I haven't spent much time on. It gets monitized through Amazon ads, and it has gotten sales. The only really bad part about Amazon is the time you have a Net60 payout.

    Could be a mistake...

Create one, test it, tweak it... then spend a LOT of time driving hungry traffic to it

Yes, it is a mindset issue...

People aren't BUYING from you/your link, you're just introducing them to a product, if they then go on to buy it from amazon (directly) you're getting the credit... a 'finders fee' as such.

Also, this "little known blog" - not the attitude... you should be focusing on creating something that people WILL trust, with honesty, integrity and most of all, quality content people will want to tell others about. Your reward... affiliate commissions and a loyal readership.

So... with all due respect - give yourself a little kick in the rear and clear all doubts. You said yourself in your last thread that you'd earned relatively litte online, so you've got nothing to lose... just do it, the worst that could happen is that you learn how not to do things, and then get better at doing them.

Not everyone will instinctively go to Amazon. What you will be trying to rank for is the buying keyword in the google results. They click on your site, they like your articles and then click through to purchase from Amazon. It's that simple. Either they do it, or they don't.

    BTW, Steve's videos are great!

I can see where your coming from Marc, and yes in the past I did spend way more time on the forum then I should have but I did take lots of action, I just been taking the WRONG actions.

But that's just my take. Mindset wise, of course ;-0

P.S. YES THEY BUY. Don't "SEE" anything until you ACTUALLY SEE IT THROUGH. Thanks!

              zacjohnson.com
              tylercruz.com
              johncow.com

              problogger.net

There's more but that's enough for now, they all focus on teaching others how to blog or be an affiliate, but they mix it up, they also talk about their hobbies, and personal life.

I suggest aswell as doing several niche sites to have one branding yourself, have all your other niche sites linking one-way to your site.

Or do a niche for example GOLF.

Then loads of Mini-sites going into detail about a certain golf clubs, there's hundreds of golf clubs and upgraded versions of a golf club so there's potential over the long-term.

have them linking to each other, then all of them back to your main site. The main site does not link back to them.

Can work for other niches too.

Another thing you can do is a hot topic method, where you use current trends to use sites targeting events, or celebrities and you can use it to see what produces most results according to the time of the year and set up sites to heavily promote when these holidays or months come.

Just a few ideas I have in me head, Jay.

Alot of people will buy your stuff through a link, i have several amazon sites. If you can capture customers that really want to buy something or are ready to buy something than you can make a sale. Desperate buyers like weight loss or anti-snoring products sell well from relatively obscure blogs because the buyers are more willing to purchase a solution to their problem from an unknown location.

Thanks a lot of your post Blender, good to see your making sales. Makes me feel even more excited as my niche is "related" to one of those that you mentioned.

Agreed. This was made more clear to me as I watched my dad search Google for a movie he wanted and click on a PPC ad to buy the movie. He had no clue that he was buying from an affiliate, he was just happy to get what he was looking for and it was easy.

I would definitely recommend johnchow.com. There is an abundance of knowledge out there but I think you are on the right track. Let us know how it goes I'm working on a similar project of my own so hopefully we'll be sharing our success stories soon.

Yeah man just get it going.

Don't try and make thousands from one site, but instead just aim for a couple hundred bucks. Then rinse and repeat. And once you have the system down you can outsource and really ramp things up.

But for now just focus on choosing the right keywords (easy) and getting a solid domain. I.E. One that has just your exact keywords in it. Then just add content.

To answer your question about whether people buy from affiliates on amazon?

    Of Course!!!!!

People go on google to try and find reviews and to compare different amazon products. If a friendly website gives them good info and then recommends a certain product they will have no hesitation in buying through you.

Note: They wouldnt buy a tv from your site(if your brand new) but they would buy a tv that you recommend on amazon.

Dont just restrict yourself to amazon though. Try clickbank, cpa and adsense to monetize websites also.

    Best of luck bro

Ernie, I just wanted to offer you some motivation. Don't overanalyze things, just go for it and test/track/modify things as you see the results come in! I have seen some pretty crappy/junky amazon blog sites pick up sales, I believe it's all in the type of content you deliver. As long as it's useful and valuable, you WILL see sales come in.

    Hi there,

I agree with the others, don't over-analyze it. Just start taking action.
The material at Super Simple Blogging is exactly the system I used to get a TON of sites out there quickly.

One of the great things about this model is that you can "test" a lot of niches to see which are profitable. Then either grow or build more site in the niche to get a better foothold.

I would also encourage you to try different monetization options.

Amazon is good and can convert very well (depending on the niche), but CPA offers and Clickbank products could be suitable as well.

    And don't discount Adsense.

It can be quite lucrative in many niches (especially in niches around physical products).

    All the best,
    Steven

P.S. I made a couple of additional videos in regards to monetization and such in Stealth Blogger (see Step 2 in my sig).

      Hi Steven,

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I'm slowly going through your videos, as I said again, excellent work!

I've ordered hosting/domain and got my blog setup with a nice theme.

And yes my niche is selling physical products so I guess at first having a mixture of monetisation ads at once would be a good idea to test whats working then would be the case of choosing 1 or 2 of the best ad types.

    Hi Ernie..

Nice thread going here.. I'm in the same boat myself, and will definitley check out Stevens' Site. I'm currently working on a wordpress blog with amazon products, but the tags and posts have to be fixed which is a slight setback.

I find with myself, when I write out exactly what I want to accomplish, a site plan, I can refer back to that when things don't go well. Also, write out the night before on paper what you need to get done the next day. It may sound unnecessary, but if you stick to it, you'll get more things done and not be distracted be the shiny things out there.

Eban Pagan has a 60/60/30 rule. Work for 60 minutes straight and focus on that only (no email, no phone, etc) and your mind will be sharp and you'll get alot more done in the best frame of mind. If the morning is your best time - start there. The 30 is a rest period.

    Best,
    Liz

    Ernie,

Your question regarding people buying through your site: I have several Amazon affiliate sites and they do pretty good making sales.

Let me give you 7 magic words, "Click here to buy now at Amazon." Link this to the product page itself (with your id embedded of course).

This tells your visitor where to buy the item and who they are buying it from. Its also a call to action. Works great for me.
