I have built a successful directory business simply by offering quality directories and very fast reviews & listings. Many times I have received "thank you" emails from SEO's telling that they were surprised by how fast their site was listed. This email is often followed by a ton of submissions from the customer.

I've been at this for a long time (in internet years) and the longer I do this and the older I get I realize more and more that mindset is the single biggest factor that will make or break someone in this business. I see too many people taking meaningless or ineffective action. If you can find a solution to a group's problem, you're on your way to success.

From what I have learnt now it is because people are looking at "how to make money" rather than how to create a great service people will want to pay for.

That is the first thing a newbie should figure out before doing anything IMO.

Anyway people don't need pie in the sky theories or programs they need help in this day and age with all the stresses of life bills and the current crisis people need something reliable. best way to look at any business is I am here to help I am bringing this to the table and this is what it is going to do for you.

Great thread. Whats intriguing is that every successful(well, maybe not every but most) people(financially) started seeing success, when they changed their attitude around like you did, and started thinking about solving a problem rather than just trying to make money.

Thats one of those quote that every time I hear it, I feel so energetic and full of passion. Nobody could put it in better words than JFK himself. And when you think about it, if we all take this to heart, we all could live a better life.

Very great advice. I also came in with the wrong mindset of "wanting to make money fast" but eventually found out that it's more about "what special benefits and services you can offer to your customers".

Great post! I agree completely, it's often those times where you stop thinking about yourself that the really juicy ideas start to flow as well. For me it's what makes my downline team a successful one, like your quote we are all about 'what can we to help each other succeed?' and I can truly say it's amazing how that attitude has grow my business.

Many of the newbies have been "brainwashed" by all the glitzy and fancy copywriting into thinking that there is some magic "holy grail" pushbutton system that spits out cash on demand just by being at the computer. Nothing could be further from the truth. An internet business is still a business, after all, and if you apply time-tested and proven marketing principles to it, then you simply cannot fail. It can be boiled down to a very simple concept - identify a market where there's an urgent and pressing need for a solution, help the people in that market out by providing the solution, and you make money! Many newbies go about it backwards by looking at things they can sell WITHOUT identifying the underlying needs and their target market first.

I just learn BIG FISH are WATCHING YOU on the internet at all time. When they see you work hard promote yourself, they will come. Once in a while I get break promoting my site. Some time the big guy slip me extra credits or hints where to go. The main thing is to set up a goal and stick with it.
Three years ago I was a nobody and think that there are secrets to all this. Now, I found it the secret is just stick to a goal and go for it.

This is a great post. What you're basically describing is the difference between people who are looking to make money and people who are looking to build a business.
If you build a business and focus on helping people, the money will then follow.

There are several different aspects of mindset that made it easier for me and allowed me to see the bigger picture.

But to get to these I had several problems, and I don't mean logically or physically, but mentally. I had several mental blocks:

Things such as, doubt, fear of failure and the willingness to receive.

Willingness to receive... Sounds stupid right? But at the start, I truly believed I did not deserve to be earning money doing this, because I believed I didn't have the authority, or that I was sucking people into failure and false pretense just like I thought I had been.

At the same time I only wanted money. I wanted money, but I didn't believe I deserved it, Catch-22 Situation right? But as usual, I wants don't get...

Though I still continued, and to my fortune, I came across several motivational driving videos, books and articles.

And slowly learned, wealth and happiness is nothing without anyone to share it with, to be wealthy, I had to help others do so to, so that way I had people to share wealth and happiness too.

The problem is, a lot of people get annoyed when they visit an article, and see nothing but mindset talk, training and motivation. They take it for granted, wanting only How to's but not Why Do's (What I mean is people wanted to learn how to do stuff, but were not interested in figuring out why they were doing it). If you ask most successful people how it happened to them, what defining moment made them what they are today, a lot respond with a thought, a single clear moment in their mind that allowed them visualize just how they could reach a better happy life.

I've been really surprised to discover just how much is in fact in the head. Without the correct mental attitude, finding success is really hard.
