Is your site optimized for the search engines? Maybe you need to do some more keyword research if you haven't already, then you can start a backlinking campaign and start blog commenting, bookmarking your site to the directories, etc to get search engine traffic.

You are probably not doing keyword research properly. If you do your keyword research you would rank well for phrases that get good volume.

It's either that or your articles are not encouraging people to click to your site.

If you also get little traffic to your articles - you know it's the first.

If your articles get lots of traffic but your sites don't - you know it's the second.

since we don't know if your site is an affiliate, your own product, or what, then here are some ways..but you have to test

        traffic from video

make a short video (using camtasia or some free video software) describing the benefits of your site/niche/whatever

put your site domain in the video itself and in the info part of the video page

submit this video to youtube and all the other video sites

        traffic from articles

write or have written, articles about your niche/product/whatever

in your bio put your site domain (if you can put a link to your site within the article)

submit these to as many article directories as you can

also, you can make a short report about your niche and set up an ebay auction for 1 penny

when the people click on your auction you can send them to your site without them having to pay the penny

alot of marketers build huge lists from ebay this way

Maybe you are in the wrong niche.
How do you know that your articles are 'quality?'
Have you analysed the stats of your articles?
How many times are they being read?
Are they ranking in the search engines as well?

The posters above are talking a lot of sense...

You need to work out what your potential clients are searching for in google and then ensure that you are ranking for those keywords. Get it right and you'll have visitors , get it wrong and it can be a lonely internet!

One method that often doesn't get mentioned but has been known to do wonders: Put a catchy bumper sticker on your car.

I did it once as an experiment for a credit card website and it helped a lot, because I started getting visitors and sales here and there and I was not doing any other type of promotion on that site. The topic has to be something that appeals to the masses though. It can't be some little obscure niche which only has interested prospects on the internet.

Also depends where you live. I live in NYC so my car was seen by a lot of people when I did that experiment, but I guess anywhere would help, as long as your car is not parked in a garage half the week.

If it works, you can probably pay some teenagers $20 bucks a month to have your sticker on their car.

Everything that all answered above are all ways to get traffic to your site.

Always start with keyword research first, to discover it that is something which is profitable and worth spending effort on. Because you do not want to invest time in something that no one is searching for right.

Next choose domain name with your keywords, get indexed and then market yourself. All of the above will help you to get traffic to your site. Traffic can come fast it can come slow but is all up to you to put in to action to see which one works the best for you.

You Forgot to Say What Type of site you have- is it a blog, a review site or a salespage for one of your products?

However, It Depends On How Fast you need the traffic- PPC is best for quick results(err.. after you mastered the basics though) or better still Paid Advertisement like banner ads, paid reviews(I think there are some quality blogs offering this), etc.

On the Other Hand, If you've got a tight budget then you should stick with Press Releases, Writing and submitting Articles to various article directories and doing Backlinking(Just try not to spam these people).

You may also want to comment on blogs within your niche- the more helpful your comment is, the more likely you'll get people clicking to your site.

    Hope That Helps,
    Emmanuel.

  • The simplest way i know of (and free) is to use Yahoo Answers and forums like this.

You just presell your content so people will go to your site. Like what I'm doing right now, my sig talks about the very traffic method in detail (no opt in required)

I would have a few questions. What does your keyword research look like? Is your site SEo optimized? Does your niche really command a lot of traffic? Do you have a list? Are you building a list? What exactly have you done to promote your site? I believe you mentioned article marketing. Well how many articles have you submitted. Have you converted them into videos or audio files? Have you utilized rss feeds and bookmarking? What is your plan? How do you plan to grow your business? Just my .02

    Ways to get traffic!

    CREATE:
    ·Write a blog post.
·Expand on the blog post and create an article.
·Expand on both the article and blog post and create a Squidoo lens.
·Create a "mashup" Powerpoint style presentation summarizing the post, article, and lens.
·Create a screencast(video) narration of the Powerpoint presentation.
·Create a mashup of the blog, article and lens and record an MP3 file narrating the content.

    UPLOAD:

    ·Upload the article to Ezinearticles.com.
    ·Upload the screencast to Youtube.
·Upload the post to your blog with the Youtube video embedded in the top of the post.
    ·Upload the lens to squidoo.
·Submit the MP3 as a Podcast to iTunes.

    LINK:

·From the article link to the blog post and video.
·From Squidoo, link to the article, blog post, podcast and video.
·From Youtube, link to the blog post.
·Tweet the blog post. 2 hours later Tweet the video, 2 hours later tweet the Squidoo lens, 2 hours later tweet the podcast.
·Social bookmark the post, video, lens and article.
·Find several blog conversations talking about the topic you chose and leave comments on them. Link to the blog post, video, article and Squidoo, rotating between them on different comments.

    Do this everyday.
Scale the process using whatever multiple you need to create the amount of traffic you want

Honestly, you don't need anything in depth. Most "in depth" programs throw a lot of fluff around to increase their page and word count.

Stick to the basics if you want to see good results.

(note: Fluff is not a bad thing, sometimes it motivates you and can help you understand what is going on.)
