How to make my articles keyword rich...

Hi everyone,

I am new(ish) to this bizz - and enjoying it tremendously.

Can I ask please for some help and advice re article marketing. I write many and am getting quite a few click through now (took a while mind).

However I tend to 'just' write my articles to the best of my ability - and then submit them. I keep reading I may be missing a trick - as maybe I am not using enough keywords to make my article SEO friendly. I do not research keywords - I just write and submit.

I keep hearing 'make your articles keyword rich ' but I can't find anyone anywhere that actually SHOWS you how to do this (sure a lot of people TELL you to do this - but for the newcomer- HOW do you literally do this)

Would anyone have any advice as to how I can squeeze even more mileage out of my articles using keywords/SEO.

    Keep using the keyword in the writing. It's that simple. If the KW is dog walking just use it as much as possible (within reason). "Dog walking is a great way to socialize with other people who are into dog walking. If you are bored one day why not take your dog walking?"

      Hi

      Use your main keyword in the title of the article; first sentence; final paragraph and maybe only once or twice in the main body. Just don't overdo it.

      There's more to it than that though when you get into long tail keywords etc.

      Click on the search button in the forum as many posts have been written about keywords and you'll learn a lot from them.

        Mary's pretty much covered it. I used to focus a little too much on keyword density and if your articles are too dense EzineArticles tends to reject them.

          Try using the keyword(s) in the summary and resource box as well. The first time I experimented with writing a "keyword rich" article, it ended up within the first two pages of google results for that keyword in no time at all. Good luck!

            Hi Jenny,

            I've got about nine hundred and ten thousand views on ezinearticles.com, with an average clickthrough rate of about 31%, so I think I'm pretty well qualified to help you with this.

            The trick to including your keywords is to write the article with the keyword in mind, and then try and squeeze it into each paragraph at least once. It's not always a case of the more the better, as the search engines are pretty quick to spot keyword spamming these days.

            After a ton of testing I personally found that the best keyword density for me is somewhere between 1.85 and 2%, so you would be looking to use each keyword just under 2 times per hundred words, on average. This provided the most instances of articles winding up on the first page/top 5 position of google for me.

            It can be tricky to get into the habit of inserting the keywords into the articles at first, but stick with it. It will become like second nature. Also, at first you may feel like you are making your articles unreadable. Don't worry. You probably aren't. Just browse ezinearticles to see how spammy some people's articles look, and that should set your mind at ease.

            Lastly, check out travis sago's bum marketing course. It's a little long in the tooth these days, but the fundamentals he mentions are very very useful for article marketing.

              First thing to note is that even though you want to concentrate to some degree on keyword density, it is also important to write to people and not just the search engines. Like someone else mentioned above, you can also use LSI which is a better way to keep it well written for actual readers.

              Other than that:

              Try to ensure you use it in your article title, well keeping it interesting for the reader. If no one can stand your title, the rest won't matter.

              Try to sprinkle your keyword or LSI of your keyword about 1-2 every 100 words ( 1-2% overall density). Making sure that it is in your intro paragraph and if you have one your concluding paragraph.

    It wouldn't hurt to use terms relevant to your main keywords, as well. Latent semantic indexing (LSI) is a system adopted by Google to determine the relevancy of a particular piece of content.

    If you will write your article yourself, you'll surely be able to incorporate LSI terms in the natural course of crafting your piece.
