A while back I created a PLR product that didn't sell well. It was 20 articles that focused on a single niche. Those 20 articles average to about 500 words each.

I'm thinking about combining them turning it into a freebie to build a list. Problem is, I don't know whether to advertise it as a "Free Report" or "Free Ebook."

What do you guys think?

    Hey There,

Only problem with making it a free report is you are building a list of people who are looking for information and not paying. You could grow a list but I'd rather have 10 customers on my list that I know are willing to spend a little money rather than 1,000 that are always looking for freebies...

    That's just my honest opinion..

Also curious if you offered a quality sales page, graphics, eBook etc. with the PLR articles..

    All the best,
    Derek

      Thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah, I've heard that arument before. And I do agree with it to an extent. It kind of depends on the niche and products you want to sell too.

David DeAngelo (aka Eben Pagan) is very outspoken about "giving away" your best stuff to potential customers and I beleive he's doing just fine.

The PLR sales page was just a WSO here. It wasn't anything fancy. I just needed a quick buck at the time. The copy wasn't outstanding but it wasn't bad either. I used to write copy for a fortune 500 company so I had old buddies look at it for me.

Also, selling PLR isn't really something I want to do on a consistant basis.

I wouldn't do either - I would market it as a "Complete System", "Blueprint", "Course" "Guidebook", "Formula", "Manifesto" etc...to accomplish a desired result.

People want solutions to challenges, desires - so give them one.

I agree with this. Ebook has been used so much the past couple years, it has no value in a consumers mind. I think report is starting to go that way too.

I would still give it away free instead of selling to build your list. Anytime you build a list with a free give away you are going to have some freebie seekers, but who cares about them. They can have all the free stuff they want. Add an upsell with maybe videos or podcasts from the free give away you have. Whoever buys that you should add to a buyers list. Boom, now you have a list of people who spend money on your stuff.

Keep promoting to your free give away list though. Some people don't convert first, second, third, or even fourth round. But thats why you have a list, so you can continue to push your sales.
