I've always wanted to see more of the page (in search results), before I click/visit the link...

I saw this and I jumped off my chair!



Did anybody see this live?

It looks that this experiment is not available for all data centers.

Google has to be careful whenever it thinks about implementing a new search-related feature. The company regularly tests out unannounced new features across a small percentage of its users to see if they are worth implementing on a wider scale (this is called bucket testing).

    I don't see what is technical about that screen cap- look at how much text is being shown from the site compared to what Google usually shows.

    It doesn't matter if you don't know the subject matter of gnuplot. That is not the point here.

    Hello guys...

    first... I've not made a search for gnuplot... (which is an old/advanced command line program).

    That search was done by the editor at techcrunch.com
    (I have no idea if he/she was looking for that specific term, or was just giving an example of the new feature).

    Well, you are all correct... the current amount of contents shown by google is sufficient.

    I was just saying that there are some times (specially when i search for things which are normally hard to find), that It would be useful to make
    sure the page is "really" talking about that topic (rather than just having the phrase mentioned here or there).

    As Scott said, this will be optional (if it even sees the light!)...
    so the default will be the least amount of page contents (i think),
    with 2 options to increase the portion that you see before you visit.

    Thought I have to clarify this..

    P.S. It seems to me that this new feature shows a meta description and on-page content, this makes it easier (for searcher) to differentiate between good pages with real useful contents compared to keyword-generated list/links or the MFA websites...etc..
